Nassau, Bahamas - The game of baseball continues make awesome strides in the country and our young men continue to reach high levels in the USA in the sport.  Last week Byron Ferguson Jr. was nominated for the second year as an  'Under Armour Pre-Season All American'.

Another young Bahamian has received the honor: Congratulations to Theodore Trae Sweeting who has been nominated as an '2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All American' and invited to attend the 'Under Armour Pre-Season All America Tournament' scheduled for January 13-15, 2012 in Tucson AZ hosted by Baseball Factory.

This venue will be a great opportunity for both young Bahamians to be exposed to Division 1 College Coaches and MLB Professional Scouts

Sweeting received his invite due to his performance at the “Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout” on Sunday October 2nd 2011 in Fort Mill, SC at Knights Stadium.

Overall Evaluation:

10/2/2011 - Premium Video Program - Fort Mill, SC (Charlotte Area) (Ages 14-18) Theodore is an athletic catcher with a ton of athletic abilities and plus baseball tools that will graduate in 2013. Foot speed is superior as indicated by his 6.59 60 time. Feet are quick and athletic as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. He gets rid of the baseball quickly displaying outstanding arm strength as indicated by his top velocity of 88 mph. Pop times display a range of 2.00-2.17 with life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. Receiving and blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Offensively, Sweeting continues to shine displaying well above average hitting abilities and power. He displays an athletic setup and loads well, attacking balls with his hands. Bat speed is a plus as he shows quick hands that work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He shows a feel for the barrel with strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. With 2 years to further develop, Theodore is raw with a ton of potential and the makings to be a special type player at the next level as he will get a ton of looks from the top collegiate coaches.

On behalf the Bahamas Baseball Federation and all of our executive, we would like to congratulate Theodore Trae Sweeting for yet another major accomplishment in his young baseball career. Trae has mature over the recent years to be one of our greater younger players but more importantly, he has mature and improved academically like a mad man on a mission. Trae is now a honor student and puts himself in the category of student athlete. To his father Teddy, who has work and supported Trae like a lot of our good supportive fathers and his mother Monique, his coaches and the entire JBLN baseball family. A job well done and we look forward to his continued success.
