Ride For Hope 2010 Route Unveiled
Feb 24, 2010 - 12:39:15 PM
Eleuthera, Bahamas - Our move to Governor’s Harbour has brought exciting changes to the
route. To begin with, our new Staging Area is located on Bayfront Park
– a beautiful, spacious community open space on the sea. The youngest
participants have an easy 2 mile journey to a great ice cream shop on
Cupid’s Cay. Enthusiastic youngsters can do as many Ice Cream Loops as
they want!
All other participants will leave the Staging Area and head south
along Queen’s Highway to South Palmetto Point, a little over 8 miles
away. The route bears left and then north along stunning Banks Road
where participants will have easy cycling conditions and spectacular
views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Banks Road Loop – a 20-mile journey -
will bring everyone back to the junction with Bayfront Park.
Next the route heads north, along the traditional Ride for Hope
journey of previous years. After passing the Governor’s Harbour
Airport, participants will travel through James Cistern, Big Rock and
Hatchet Bay. We could not offer a Ride for Hope route that did not
include Gregory Town and Glass Window – so veterans can rest assured
that both are included in the 2010 route.
Together, the Banks Road and the Queen’s Highway Loops (from
Governor’s Harbour to Glass Window and back) cover 80 miles. Once back
in Governor’s Harbour, participants going the full 100 miles will
repeat the Banks Road Loop before finishing at Bayfront Park.
