Long Island, Bahamas – Beautiful Salt Pond, Long Island, was the scene for the most recent Sands ‘Man in the Boat’ sculling race at the 47th Long Island Regatta. Scullers from throughout The Bahamas came to Long Island to participate in the race, and a ‘Truly Bahamian’ time was had by both scullers and spectators.

“As a partial sponsor of the regatta, we were extremely proud of the turnout,” said Lynden Johnson, Sales and Marketing Manager at Bahamian Brewery and Beverage. “Not only are we proud because of the support of our sculling event, but also because of the positive reception that our brands enjoyed on site and throughout Long Island.”

As Steven Rolle has already won the sculling race at the National Family Island Regatta in Exuma, the brewery will give 2nd place winner Clifton Wells a chance to attend the National sculling championship which will take place in New Providence in November, featuring the winners from all of this year’s sculling races.

Additionally, the next stop for the Sands ‘Man in the Boat’ sculling race will be Bahamian Brewery and Beverage’s home base, Freeport, Grand Bahama at the Grand Bahama Regatta, July 18th – 19th.

The Brewery is extremely grateful for all of the support that Bahamians have given them by participating in the various sculling races and hopes that with the continued support sculling will regain the notoriety it once had. “We had a beautiful time in Long Island,” said Johnson. “We’ve been on a mission to bring sculling back throughout the islands and we’re definitely seeing both interest and excitement for our races. The Brewery team can’t wait for the next race which will be on our home island, Grand Bahama.”
