Treasure Cay, Abaco – The Sands Man in the Boat sculling races once again saw great success in Treasure Cay, Abaco over the weekend, as many women and men lined up to scull the boat.

To start the event of right, the Bahamian Brewery and Beverage team held a boat parade throughout the communities of Abaco, starting at Jimmy’s Wines and Spirits on Bay Street, Marsh Harbour and ending in Treasure Cay, with the races.

After eight thrilling heats, including an all lady race, Skeeter Rolle placed first, Fernley Cox placed second and M. Kelly placed third. The winners all received trophies and the traditional cases of Sands beer for their participation in the event. Abaco winner, Skeeter Rolle, will now join the other four winners and head to Nassau for the sculling championships, which will be taking place in November.

“Our sculling races are becoming a real Regatta highlight throughout The Bahamas, and with each sculling race, the excitement shows more and more,” said Lynden Johnson, Sales and Marketing Manager at Bahamian Brewery and Beverage. “The crowd really enjoyed seeing the sculling boats, as we moved around Abaco, and Treasure Cay beach was full by the time the sculling races started.”

In addition to hosting the sculling races, Bahamian Brewery and Beverage also provided truly Bahamian beers, and live entertainment from the New Entry Band, Geno D with DJ MC Frankie performing. A fantastic, truly Bahamian day was had by both scullers and spectators and Johnson extended a huge thanks to the entire Abaco community for their support of the races and for making the event so successful.
