Freeport, Grand Bahama - The 2nd Annual Tour de Grand Bahama was announced during a press conference at the Ministry of Tourism on Tuesday, January 19. According to Nuvolari Chotoosingh, manager of the Ministry of Tourism’s Sports Department, the event will be held on Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28, 2016.

He said, "cycling is for everyone" and they want to encourage everyone to participate. He added that if anyone wishes to host an event such as this, where they are inviting visitors to our shores, they should contact the Ministry of Tourism. With approximately 100 participants expected to attend, it is hoped this number will grow by the actual event.

Kenton Roker, president of the Grand Bahama Cyclists Club, said the proceeds from the event will go to an organization known as Operation Christmas Child, where shoebox gifts are given to children all over The Bahamas. The organization is about assisting children with not just toys, but school supplies as well. Shown are Mr. Roker and Mr. Chotoosingh during the press conference. (BIS Photo/Vandyke Hepburn)
