Senior Nationals Championship Matches

Nassau, Bahamas - Four Championship Matches will be held on Saturday morning where the best of the best in Senior Tennis will showcase their skills. After a weeklong of matches finalists emerged for the various divisions. On Saturday the victors will be crowned 2019 Senior National Champions!

On Friday, the Mixed Doubles Championship is set to take place where Bjorn Ferguson and Richette Percentie will take centre stage against Bud Cambridge and Rita Roy in Mixed Doubles Championship. Cambridge and Roy played a clean game today and were victorious over the Newton duo 6-1, 6-2.

Advancing to the Men 55 Singles Finals is Stephen Thompson. Thompson the #1 seed won over Sandy Reid. Thompson won the first set 6-1 and Reid
retired in the second set, down 2-3.  Thompson will face Bud Cambridge in Saturday's M55 finals at 9:30am.

Also on court were Devlin Fisher and Dwayne Gibson. Fisher won the first set 6-1 and the next set would prove to be more competitive as Gibson and Fisher are all tied up 5-5 in the second set. The match will continue Friday at 5:30pm. The winner will face the #1 seed in the Men's 45 and Over, Brent Johnson on Saturday at 9:30am.

Championship Matches slated for Saturday morning as follows:

Men 45 Doubles
Tommy Turnquest and Larry Rolle versus Devlin Fisher and Everette
Munroe.

Mens 55 Doubles
#2 seed Tommy Turnquest and Larry Rolle versus Godfrey Virgil and Kevin
Major Sr.

M45 Singles
Brent Johnson #1 seed will face the winner of tomorrow match between
Fisher and Gibson.

M55 Singles
#1 seed Stephen Thompson versus Bud Cambridge.

Trophy Presentation is scheduled for Saturday at 1pm at the National Tennis Centre. Come and see some spectacular tennis on display starting at 9:30am.
