Soccer, or football, long a catalyst for uniting billions around the world in their passion for the “beautiful game” is once again set to bring people together, this time for more than just bragging rights as to who is the best team. The member clubs of the Bahamas Football Association’s senior men’s league are pleased to announce that it’s all systems go for the “Soccer for Haiti” earthquake relief charity matches to be held on Sunday January 31st 2010 at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium.

The event will take place between 1pm and 7pm and will feature games between a Haitian XI and Bahamas XI, and a Jamaican XI and Rest of the World XI. This will be a fun-filled cultural event offering food and drink concessions, musical entertainment, games, competitions and many door prizes. All funds raised will go to Haiti’s earthquake relief efforts.

Soccer is the premiere sport in Haiti, and many Haitians in The Bahamas take part in the local league. The clubs thought it only fitting that they pitch in to help their friends and neighbours in their time of crisis.

The league is appealing to corporate Bahamas to support the cause by placing banners at the event, donating prizes and attending the event. Entertainers who wish to donate their time and talent to the occasion are urged to contact the league.
