Sydney Clarke And Jacobi Bain Advances To The Junkanoo Bowl Quarterfinals

It was a thriller of a match as the Girls #1 seed in The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association(BLTA)  TF Junkanoo Bowl played amid a throng of supporters at The National Tennis Centre.

Sydney Clarke saw action for the first time in singles after receiving a first round bye due to her seeding position. Fans and friends came out to see the #1 ranked Bahamian junior in action and they witnessed a show of talent and finesse. Mary Jean Brumfield from the USA fought a set down 5-7 to tie it in the second 6-3 and force a third set where Sydney would raise the ante remaining focused and composed as  she closed out 6-4.

On the Boys side Jacobi Bain would face Tom Grosjean of France who played through qualifying rounds. Jacobi would win easily 6-0 6-0. Jacobi played relaxed executing his strokes and motions smoothly.  The local crowd was also on hand to cheer him on.

As Sydney and Jacobi head to the quarterfinals the action and intensity will increase and you have an opportunity to witness our local tennis juniors compete against some top junior players all over the world.

Sydney faces the 6th seed in the girls and Jacobi will face the #1 seed in the boys both from the USA.  In addition, the The BLTA U16 Tournament continues with semifinals rounds today. On the Boys side the winner of the semis matches  Denali Nottage versus Dentry Mortimer Jr. will face the winner of Michael Major Jr. and Anthony Burrows Jr. in the finals. The girls U16 semis will be decided after the end of  the morning's round robin matches.
