Team Bahamas Advances to Main Draw in U14 Juniors Tennis Tournament in Santo Domingo‏

The Boys' and Girls' national teams are participating in the World Junior Tennis Competition being held in San Salvador, El Salvador March 11 - 16, 2016.  The Boys' Team consists of Kofi Bowe (Freeport), Jacobi Bain and Denali Nottage (Freeport) and the Girls' Team is comprised of Elana Mackey, Donesha Gibson(Freeport) and Emma Weech.  

The Boys seeded second in the tournament and captained by Mr. Hartie Johnson of Eleuthera was able to advance to the Main Draw by defeating Curacao 2-1, Bermuda 2-1 and Nicaragua with a score 2-1. All the wins over the three countries so far were decided by the doubles matches win by Team Bahamas.  The Boys enter the main draw with an opening match against third seeded and the home country Dominican Republic.

The Girls were not able to reach the main draw with a tough opening match against number one seeded Guatemala where they lost 3-0.   The Bahamas also lost today to Barbados 2-1. Tomorrow Team Bahamas plays Trinidad and Tobago in the Consolation match for a chance to finish 9th -14th.   The Girls are captained by Coach Bradley Bain. We expect Team Bahamas to continue to do well.
