Nassau, Bahamas - A 9 person team of 7 boxers and 2 coaches of Strikers Boxing Club headed off to Hot Springs, Arkansas, USA on June 16 and returned on June 21st with 3 championship belts.  The team attended the National Title Boxing Championship 2015, which is sponsored by Title Boxing and sanctioned by USA Boxing.

This tournament is open to all boxers, and the following Team Strikers boxers participated in this prestigious event:

Kendrick Stuart, 20, 123 lbs, Tyrone Oliver, 21, 141 lbs, Rudolph Regis, 19, 141 lbs, Hubert Fernander, 23, 165 lbs, D’Angelo Swaby, 26, 201 lbs, Davan Hamilton, 17, 201 lbs and Davon Hamilton, 17, 201+ lbs along with head coach Ronn Rodgers and assistant coach Kayla Johnson.

This tournament was a first international competition for Rudolph Regis and Hubert Fernander. Fernander was awarded a championship belt in his weight class of 165 lbs.  Affectionately called “The Twin Towers” by their teammates and coaches, the twins, Davon and Davan Hamilton 17, also won their matches and awarded the championship belts in their respective weight classes.

Both coaches Ronn Rodgers and Kayla Johnson were very pleased with the results and the performances of the fighters.  “Our main focus right now is to expose the elite fighters to as many international competitions as possible (elite fighters - Tyrone Oliver, Kendric Stuat, and D’Angelo Swaby, Davon and Davan Hamilton as well as Amron Sands and Israel Johnson, the last two boxers were unable to attend due to personal reasons) so that we know what to work on and tweak any performance issues as necessary.

In attending several different tournaments abroad, one thing was very clear. Our fighters have the power, speed and skill set to compete at this level. Now our focus is to concentrate on their mentality and get them to fully believe in themselves. Without a champion mentality, the talent, power and speed that they possess means nothing” Said Coach Rodgers.
“Great display of heart and guts by Rudolph Regis and Hubert Fernander, their first international tournament and they didn’t disappoint.  Things are only going to get better for them!” said Coach Kayla Johnson.

The next up for the team will be the Men’s Championship Show at Women’s National Golden Gloves from July 7-11, 2015 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Tyrone Oliver and Amron Sands will be participating in this event.
