Nassau, The Bahamas - The Bahamas Golf Federation (BGA) kicked off the 2011 season when over 40 golfers from around The Bahamas converged on the Cable Beach golf course on February 12th to compete in the first event of the “Johnnie Walker Cup”.

According to BGA Event Coordinator Ian Howard, “We are pleased with the turnout from both members and non-members, and look forward to a great tournament”. “The sport of golfing in The Bahamas has gotten a boost with Johnnie Walker’s full sponsorship and we expect the level of participation to grow” added Howard.

This tournament is the first of five that will happen throughout the year, culminating in an overall winner whose prize will be hotel and flights for two to the final of The Johnnie Walker Cup Championship 2012 at Gleneagles, Scotland.
