Nassau, Bahamas - Tourism numbers and hotel occupancy got a healthy boost when hundreds of international visitors travelled varying distances to Nassau for the recent IAAF/BTC World Relays 2017.
As in past years with athletic event guests, Sandyport Beach Resort recorded sell out nights with many of the IAAF officials and specialist support staff extending their stays beyond the end of the games.
Vernon Moss the Sandyport General Manger said various attributes contribute to the resorts success.
“Guests say they love being just 10 minutes from Lyndon Pindling airport and invariable also comment on the convenience of the ensuite kitchens. And now with its opening, we’re able to say we are 10 minutes away from the casino and amenities of Baha Mar.”
Members of a U.K based broadcast production team who stayed at the Sandyport resort said they were impressed with how the event went and enjoyed Nassau.
“This is our first time here to record the IAAF World Relays and everything went as expected; we came to work and were pleased we could also watch a lot of the races and enjoy our free time,” said Daniel Boast, Technical Support Engineer at HyperActive Broadcast.
Camera Operator for NEP Visons, Richard Jones said “We loved Sandyport and everything we did and saw in Nassau. The weather is amazing – I hope we are on the IAAF support team for the next World Relays in The Bahamas – I want to come back!”
The IAAF/BTC World Relays is the biggest sporting event staged in The Bahamas to date. Athletes from approximately 42 countries competed at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.
