Scores of professional volleyball players and fanatic fans from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida took over the beach at SuperClubs Breezes for an action-packed volleyball tournament September 26-28th.

Dig The Beach Volleyball Series was founded in 1991 and is the longest standing and largest volleyball series in the United States.

Dig The Beach Representative Diogo Sousa said that the series group is aggressively trying to expand overseas and The Bahamas is the first stop. “The beach, the sand, the view, the people and the weather. Why would we not choose The Bahamas,” said Sousa.

“I’ve played all over the world and nothing can compare to The Bahamas. It’s great people, great weather, and all of that makes for a better game,” says pro-volleyball player Neil Mayo.

The participants truly enjoyed themselves with competitive volleyball matches in the sand, dancing, delicious food and drinks at the all-inclusive resort, but the fun did not stop there.

“We went snorkeling, sightseeing and touring, to eat some of the native food at Arawak Cay, and tonight we will go to the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival party,” said Sousa, the group’s representative.

A few years ago the group ventured to Freeport, Grand Bahama and over the next three years Dig The Beach plans to make The Bahamas their home.

“We brought over 60 participants this year and had a successful time. Next year we plan to welcome hundreds more for an even better time,” said Sousa.
