Poker Stars Blog writes: Tajikistan is a former Soviet Republic, home to eight million people,
and less than two decades removed from a devastating civil war. It is a
country that has struggled to and succeeded in becoming a vital nation.
It is also a country that most of the world barely knows. Moreover, it
is a place that doesn't turn out a steady stream of poker world
champions. That could all change in just a few months as Tajikistan
prepares to send its first team to the PokerStars World Cup of Poker live finals in the Bahamas.
After two preliminary rounds, the live finals of the World Cup of
Poker have been set. Group play ended this past weekend with the
following team earning their spots in January's live finals at the
Atlantis Resort and Casino.
France
Italy
Peru
Costa Rica
Rest of the World
Germany
Netherlands
Tajikistan
Japan
The World Cup of Poker is preparing to crown its eighth champion.
Finalist Costa Rica already has two WCP titles. Germany and Italy each
have one, as well. The remaining teams are all fighting for their
country's first World Cup championships.
The World Cup finals will take place in January alongside the
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. The PokerStars Blog will
have full coverage of the action live from the Bahamas.
Congratulations to all the finalists.
