Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Saturday February 13th, 2010 Bestselling author Terry McMillan treated visitors and Grand Bahamians in attendance at Island Heartbeats Experience 2010 at Ross University, to an exclusive sneak peek glimpse into her upcoming sequel to " Waiting to Exhale".

The all ladies group in attendance got the opportunity to not only mix and mingle with the famous author, but they also experienced the unique privilege of being able to  listen to Terry as she read an excerpt from her upcoming sequel to " Waiting to Exhale" entitled, " Getting to Happy".

The Bahamas Weekly News Team was on-hand to cover this exclusive and we are pleased to present herewith Terry's preface to the reading from her new book, as she expresses the framework of her new novel sequel to an eager audience who were completely in sync with her anecdotes and antics.

Grand Bahama Island - Originally born in Washington County, Durham England, retired educator turned extra on Pirates of The Caribbean 2 & 3, directed by Gore Verbinski. With Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Stellan Skarsgård and others, David Cook was inspired to write his book, “Pirates of The Bahamas.”

Cook explains the difference between a buccaneer and a pirate, and speaks of the famous female pirates - Anne Bonney and Mary Read. Nassau was at one time the main hub for pirates, but he also speaks on modern day piracy, that of Norman Cay in the 1980s.

Be prepared to experience what it was like to work as an extra & photo double for Stellan Skarsgård who played “Bootstrap Bill” as David takes you behind the scenes of Disney Pictures', Pirates of The Caribbean 2 & 3 (partly filmed on Grand Bahama Island)...

It's been more than a year since John Travolta's son Jet died of seizure at the family's holiday home in the Bahamas. Since then, Travolta says he and wife Kelly Preston have come to terms with their grief through Scientology and the support of family and friends.

"We've worked very hard every day since our loss, and our church has helped us tremendously. We're on a special program designed for loss, and we've been helped a tremendous amount. Our friends, our fans ... You would be surprised about how even a fan letter that says something just right will make your moment for you and get you through that day a little better," Travolta said on  'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC).

Avant visited Grand Bahama as a special guest of the 10th annual Red Rose Ball.  The ball is organized by a committee whose mission, along with the Grand Bahama AIDS Awareness Committee, is to bring awareness on HIV/AIDS. Their  message is “Prevention Now!”

This was Ambassador Avant's first  trip to Grand Bahama Island and her first ball in The Bahamas.
