Grand Bahama Island - On December 12th, Earnestine Moxyz, PR Manager, The Westin & Sheraton Our Lucaya Resort was awarded her gold pin, the highest honour in the Grand Life Ambassador program by Denise Adderley, Director of Marketing Services, Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board

The Bahamas Weekly News Team was on hand to capture this important milestone achievement at the Westin & Sheraton Our Lucaya Resort.

In this video Denise Adderley commends Earnestine Moxyz on her speedy achievements with the Grand Life Training Program and Moxyz shares her experience with the Program, and challenges other industry partners to also take the program.

In June 2008 the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, launched a customer service awareness training program, called the Grand Life Ambassador Training, which has resulted in the training of over 1,200 employees in the hospitality sector who have become Grand Ambassadors of service, including employees from hotels, customs and immigration, airlines, car rental agencies, airport security, sky caps, taxi drivers and educators in the school system.

Moxyz was responsible for leading a total of thirty-six (36) face to face Grand Life training sessions with the exception of eight, which were co-facilitated by Karenda Swain of the Ministry of Tourism.

More than 90% of their staff members (approximately 1,000 persons) inclusive of managers, led by the general manager and US based sales team successfully completed the Grand Life Ambassador Training program. More than 6,891 man-hours of training where put into the program.  The sessions began in August 5th and ended on October 31st, of which some 796 persons were in attendance (8 of whom were non-employees but guests of the Ministry of Tourism).  Up to November 6th, an additional 115 persons completed the e-learning training program, resulting in a total count of 910 persons.

The Grand Life Ambassador Training Program consists of one (1) eight-hour face-to-face training experience (or two half-day sessions) or one (1) online learning experience.  Every resident and second home resident are encouraged to take either the face-to-face class or the online eLearning course, but taking both should be encouraged, as  each has its virtues as a learning tool.

The class is facilitated by either one or two representatives, or "Grand Bahama Island Ambassadors," chosen and trained by the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board and the Ministry of Tourism (MOT), Grand Bahama Island.  Twenty-five (25) persons from a cross-section of local companies completed the Train-the-Trainer Grand Life Ambassador Training in early June 2008.

The online Grand Life Ambassador Training (a one-hour course) is being offered to students from 7-12 grades to teach them about the tourism industry. This program is intended to reach every Grand Bahamian and second-home resident. All are encouraged to take this free training program, because each and every one of us can be Ambassadors of service and hospitality every day.

If you are interested in taking this training program, please contact Mrs. Denise Adderley at the GBI Tourism Board ( denise.adderley@coralwave.com or 242-352-8356).

Let's all begin living "The Grand Life".
