(Video) Downtown International Food & Cultural Festival (DIFCF) featuring KB in Concert

Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas - Under the theme, “We Are Culture,” the inaugural
Downtown International Food & Cultural Festival (DIFCF) took place earlier this year on June 17th and 18th. The Bahamas Weekly is pleased to present herewith a 2-hour video segment of the opening ceremony and entertainment by KB provided on June 18th.

The opening ceremony was moderated by David Wallace, and took place at the
recently beautified downtown area where the president of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Mr. Ian Rolle gave welcome remarks and expressed his thanks to those who aided in the city's revitalization programme and to those businesses who are taking part in the incentives provided to once again revitalize Freeport's downtown.

Visiting from Nassau, the Hon. Deputy Prime Minister, Brent Symonette also gave remarks and congratulated Mr. Rolle and the Grand Bahama Port Authority on their accomplishment. DPM Symonette is the patron of the International Cultural Festival that has been running in Nassau for years and also provided remarks at the opening.

In this video you will also hear from Ginger Moxey, Vice President of the GBPA. Nikira Wilchcombe of the GBPA offered the vote of thanks.

Students from the Walter Parker Primary School performed for the ceremony as well as the National Youth Choir. The Quadrille Dancers danced along with a rake n’ scrape group, and the Orion Pathfinder Marching Band performed as well.

The Festivities continued to Saturday evening where there were performances from various groups including a Philippine dancing group;  as singing by local artists Alexis Pelicanos, Stileet, and the featured artist KB. The evening ended with a Junkanoo performance by the Superstar Rockers.

Purchases of goods and food at the festival was done by way of "Festival Dollars" provided by Bank of The Bahamas who were platinum sponsors, along with G.B. Power, Freeport Harbour Company & the Grand Bahama Airport, and the Grand Bahama Port Authority Limited. Gold sponsors were BTC, silver sponsors were RBC/Finco, Sawyer’s and the Grand Bahama Shipyard. Bronze sponsors were Scotiabank, Polymers, Coca Cola. Partners were BAIC, Ministry of Tourism, International Cultural Festival, Love 97 and Cool 96.
