Our next guests are
Nadine Thomas- Brown and Daria Delancey.
Nadine Thomas- Brown,
a
dynamic lady and a fan of the arts has been driven to develop a show
that will give the industry the needed exposure and in the process has
created a culturally diverse show aptly named 'ART IS". She contributes
her creativity and gained knowledge about the industry from her
experience as a performer and a reporter. She is the executive producer
of tv show "Roots & Culture" and "Express Yourself", the longest
running open mic in the country [now ended].
Daria Delancey is
an art chick...she is a poet and a painter with a bachelor degree in
psychology. She believes that the arts is life in motion.
Art
is a choice to see a vision brought to life through whatever medium the
sharer wishes. It cannot be defined or confined to any specific
explanation, after all art is what you make of it.
The
event “Art IS” seeks to gather artistes of all genres in one spot on a
weekly basis in order for an outpouring of talent to take place. A
sharing if you will, an opportunity to network and opine about the arts
in all it’s forms.
Picture it...
It’s
8:30 pm the mc checks the mic to make sure it’s working, the open mic
is called to order…over in the couches patrons are sipping drinks from
the coffee shop bobbing their heads as verbs and adjectives drip from
unseasoned tongues. While artistes paint their hearts away inspired…
It’s
9:30pm the featured guests have arrived the three piece band strikes
up, the congo drums are beating a hypnotic rhythm the acoustic guitar
picks up the tempo as the double bass hums its heart out… ART IS being
made …
Goal:
To
create a unique space where artists may express their art freely and
receive appreciation for their contribution. Also, the goal is to
challenge the artist to perform at their optimal level each time they
appear.
