With temperatures hovering in the 90’s daily, even the thought of squeezing into your tried and true pair of long denim jeans can make you break into a sweat. However, you don’t have to turn up your nose to all denim options this summer.

Denim is a summer staple and there are many ways to wear this versatile and durable fabric. Whether dressing down for a day of running around town or adding youthful personality to a dressed-up look, revisit this wardrobe workhorse and the many ways you can make it work for you.

Look 1: Running Errands

You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort when you’re schlepping around town taking care of business. Add a little va-va-voom to your traditional t-shirt and denim shorts casual look by opting for denim in bright hues.

Orange, plum, fuschia, cobalt and lemon are all hot colors for summer. If you’re going for a fun, playful look pairing a bold colored denim bottom with a bold colored top is a great way to add interest to even the simplest outfit by playing with color.

Look 2: Sunday Brunch

Sunday brunch is one of those outings that makes you want to “pretty it up” in a feminine and flirty outfit. Nothing makes me feel more feminine than a great dress. sometimes the simpler the dress, the better. A simple dress is a blank canvas for you to accessorize and make your own.

Pretty can be comfortable in a great denim shirt-dress. Shirt-dresses work for virtually every figure depending on the cut of the skirt. If you are concerned about fuller hips and thighs opt for an A-line skirt that flares out subtly and skims your curves. Those who want to play-up a womanly figure can opt for a pencil skirt bottom to draw attention to your curves.

Look 3: Night Out

Denim is a truly one of those pieces you can effortlessly take from day to night. However, forget about those traditional denim trousers. Denim skirts are making a resurgence and there are tons of silhouettes to choose from.

To look classic yet modern, choose a high-waisted pencil skirt style with high fashion details such as curved seaming to create a womanly silhouette. For a fun vintage look, printed denim with a large pattern such as polka dots is an easy way to add an instant vintage flair to your ensemble.

Denim is such a fun fabric and there are so many exciting ways to wear it outside of the traditional long trousers. Have fun working this tried and true staple that only gets better with time into your summer wardrobe.
