Officials of the newly-created Bahamas Air Navigation Services Authority and the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Wednesday (May 5, 2021) concluded the ceremonial signing of a historic Air Navigation Services Agreement between the two entities.

TThe Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Charlene Davis as Principal Nursing Officer (PNO) at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) with effect from April 6th, 2021.  With over thirty-three (33) years of clinical and administrative nursing experience, Mrs. Davis is well equipped to ensure the delivery of the standards of nursing care.  


Among the first graduates of The College of The Bahamas’ Associate of Arts degree in Nursing program, Mrs. Davis began her career as a Registered Nurse in 1987.  She served with distinction as in the Intensive Care Unit including serving in the role of Charge Nurse for the ward.  Promoted to Nursing Officer II in 2003, she would serve as Hospital Duty Area Officer during evening shifts....

The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Jessica Cartwright as Acting Hospital Administrator at the Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre (SRC) with effect from April 6th, 2021.

A former educator, Ms. Cartwright earned her Master of Health Administration (HONORS) from Western Connecticut State University and began her career in Health Administration at the Public Hospitals Authority, Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in July 1999, where she was posted as Trainee Administrative Cadet.  She was appointed Assistant Hospital Administrator in 2001 and accepted the appointment as Senior Assistant Hospital Administrator in 2003.

Throughout her tenure at PMH, Ms. Cartwright made significant contributions to the operations and further development of the hospital,....

Migrants arraigned In a Freeport Magistrate Court for illegal embarkation - May 5, 2021 - 3:40:58 PM


On 3rd May, 2021, eight (8) migrants were arraigned in the Freeport Magistrate's Court #3 before Magistrate Laquay Laing. Two (2) Romanians, one (1) Costa Rican, three (3) Ecuadorians, one (1) Eritrean and one (1) Haitian national were all charged with Illegal Embarkation. All migrants pled guilty to the offense and were convicted and fined $300.00 each or in default of payment, serve six (6) months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services...

The computer lab at the Nassau Village Urban Renewal Centre will henceforth be known as the Kermit Smith Computer Lab and Educational Centre, it was announced recently at a somewhat emotional ceremony.  The story behind the honouree is an intriguing one, of how a man who once roamed the streets and admittedly “did not care about anyone else but myself,” turned his life around for the good of himself, his family and his community.
