Bahamian fashion designer, David Rolle is back in Jamaica for Mission Catwalk's 'All-Star' season. The popular Caribbean fashion design show is now in it's 5th cycle, and this time they have brought back some of their best featured designers. Rolle participated in season 3 in 2013, where he impressed judges and placed second overall.

Last Saturday, Rolle was successful in securing the 3rd challenge win to, "design a garment inspired by an exotic tropical flower."

They were required to
select a flower from Tai Flora and design a garment around it. Rolle's winning piece, was inspired by the peony. His creation is blush coloured corset top with cigarette high-waisted pants, and a matching chiffon cape. "It's a stretch satin that is actually my least favorite fabric, but it was the perfect color," Rolle told TheBahamasWeekly.com.

We were eager to ask Rolle about his experience on the all-star season.

"Overall I got off to a slow start," he said, "because I don't think I entered the show in my element."

"I underestimated the amount of talent Mission Catwalk has seen over a span of 4 years. Meeting designers like Rebecca Strim from Belize and Carla Gittens from Barbados, shook my confidence early on in the competition. Episodes 1 and 2 brought me to reality. I was so accustomed to always being placed in the top 3 that being safe back-to-back almost made me want to walk off of the set," said Rolle.

"I felt like I didn't understand what the judges were asking for. So of course, winning episode 3 was a confidence booster and a push in the right direction. There's always the fear of being average and wondering what people back home might think when you're only safe. However I had to constantly remind myself why I entered the second time," he continued.

"For me its all about the younger designers who so often comes up to me and tell me how much they enjoy seeing me on television, knowing that one day they can achieve the same."

Congrats David Rolle! The Bahamas is watching and we are very proud of you!
