Nassau junior high teacher robbed at school, suspects in custody - Shooting at Eaton Road - Jul 31, 2015 - 5:08:35 PM


Nassau, Bahamas - Two males ages 48 and 18 years are in custody following an armed robbery that occurred on Friday 31st July 2015.

According to reports, shortly after 7:30am, a female teacher was about to open a classroom at a Junior High School off Robinson Road, when she was approached by two males armed with a handgun. A struggle ensued resulting in the victim being struck in the head. The two suspects then robbed the victim of a cell phone and fled on foot...

Nassau: Island-wide manhunt underway for suspects in Charles Vincent St fatal shooting - Jul 31, 2015 - 5:06:09 PM

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are searching for the suspects involved in a shooting incident that has left a man dead on Friday 31st July 2015.

According to reports shortly after 2:00pm, a man was walking on Charles Vincent Street, when the occupants of a black Honda Civic vehicle license number 305359 pulled up and shot him in the head before speeding off. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

A short while later police recovered the suspect’s vehicle on Miami Street. The vehicle was reported stolen early this morning...

Freeport, The Bahamas - Police in Grand Bahama has identified the male victim who was found dead at his residence on Tuesday 28th July 2015, as Dwayne Sturrup age 47 years of #51 Faith Avenue, Grand Bahama.

Police in Abaco are investigating the death of a male whose body was found floating in waters on Scotland Cay, Abaco.

Reports are that on Wednesday 29th July 2015 shortly before 5:00pm, the body of an unknown caucasian male was found floating in waters on Scotland Cay, Abaco by a resident of the cay.

Officers responded to investigate and the body was taken to the Marsh Harbor Clinic where it was pronounced dead by doctor...

5,860 marijuana plants discovered in Grand Bahama - Jul 29, 2015 - 1:42:49 PM

Drug Enforcement Unit Officers along with other Law Enforcement Officials, on Tuesday 28th July 2015 around 10:00am, while on routine air patrol in the area of the Lucayan National Park, discovered several plots of suspected marijuana plants, ranging from six inches to two feet in height. The total amount of suspected marijuana plants discovered were 5,860. The estimated street value is over five hundred thousand dollars. No arrest was made in this matter.

Freeport, Bahamas - Police are investigating a stabbing incident that has left a 47 year old male of Grand Bahama dead.

Reports are that on Tuesday, 28th July 2015 shortly after 12:30am, police were called to a home in the Heritage Sub-division, where they met a male inside the home with stab wounds about the upper body. EMS where called to the scene and reported that there was no signs of life. A female resident of the home is assisting police with their investigation into this matter...

Police have launched a countrywide manhunt for 23 year old Veandro Rahjiv Ferguson of the Forest Exuma, who escaped lawful custody from the George Town Station on Monday 27th July 2015. Ferguson was in custody for Unlawful Sexual Intercourse.

Ferguson is described as a brown male, of a slim build and about 5’ 9” in height...

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Assistant Superintendent Earl Thompson, Analytical Inspector, and Inspector Aaron Wilson, Firearms Examiner, both of the Scientific Support Services of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, graduated from the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI) Introduction to Forensic Firearms Examination Course on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the National Laboratory Centre of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, in Ammendale, Maryland. Assistant Superintendent Thompson and Inspector Wilson were among ten Caribbean nationals graduating from the course.

In attendance at the graduation ceremony was Superintendent Elburt Ferguson of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, who presented tokens of appreciation to officials of the Bureau Force for their significant contribution to training in the area of forensic firearms examination...

Three overnight shootings, one detained in hospital: In the first incident, around 10:30pm on Thursday 16th July 2015, two males were sitting on a porch at a home located on Peach Street, when a champagne coloured Nissan Note vehicle pulled up with three men who fired several shots at them before speeding off. One of the males was shot to the left thigh and the other was shot to the left leg. The two victims were transported to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition.

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the death of a 74 year old male.

Reports are that on Wednesday 15th July 2015, shortly before 5:00pm, the lifeless body of a male was discovered floating in waters on Xanadu Beach. Police and EMS personnel were called to the scene where they met the lifeless body of a male on shore, who was rendered CPR by EMS personnel. He was then transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead by doctor...
