Bahamas Police investigate alleged drowning death - Jan 31, 2015 - 6:37:38 PM

According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon on Saturday 31st January 2015, a man and a woman were on a boating trip, when the man became unconscious while diving in waters just off Rose Island. Despite extensive CPR efforts the man was declared deceased by EMS personnel. An autopsy will be preformed to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.

According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm on Friday 30th January 2015, a team of officers from the Southwestern Division acting on intelligence went to a bushy area located at Pride Estates, where they uncovered just over one pound of marijuana. Investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding any crime, no matter how small or insignificant (the tip) may seem, to anonymously call Police at 919 or CRIME STOPPERS at 328-TIPS (8477) (New Providence) or 1-242-300-8476 (Family Islands)

Grand Bahama Police investigate fatal stabbing incident - Jan 31, 2015 - 1:09:01 PM

Police on Grand Bahama are investigating an early morning fatal stabbing incident. According to reports at approximately 5:00am on Saturday 31st January 2015 police received calls of a domestic dispute between family members at a residence located in the Hawksbill area, Freeport, Grand Bahama, which had escalated and an individual was injured.

Police and EMS personnel were dispatched to the home to investigate where they discovered the lifeless body of a black male lying on the floor in a bedroom suffering from an apparent stab wound to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

In keeping with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan 2015 Priority 4, “The Safety and Security of the Public”, officers from the Abaco Division mounted a routine road check between the hours of 2:00pm and 3:30pm on Friday 30th January 2015 at the junction of Don McKay Boulevard and Crockett Drive, Marsh Harbour, Abaco, which resulted in nineteen (19) drivers being cited for various traffic infractions.

Nassau, Bahamas - Wanted suspect Emmanuel Rolle will appear in court at 11:00am to be formally charged for the murder of Defense Force Marine Angelo Dorsett Jr. and the attempted murder of two others that occurred on Sunday 25th January 2015.

Also an adult female will appear in court at 11:00am to be formally charged for the murder of Andrea Carroll that occurred at Deadman’s Cay, Long Island on 29th November 2014.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police have identified weekend homicide victims:

The first victim has been identified as 44 – year old Dary Fenelus of Eneas Lane who was shot and killed at his residence on Saturday 24th January 2015.

The second victim has been identified as 21 – year old Angelo Dorsett Jr. of Quintine Alleywho was shot and killed at the G-Spot Nightclub on Sunday 25th January 2015.

Nassau, Bahamas - A 25 year old man was taken into custody today in connection with a murder that occurred at a Faith Avenue South nightclub on Sunday 25th January 2015.

According to reports, around 12:00noon a team of officers from the Central Detective Unit acting on intelligence went to Kim’s Crescent, where they arrested the suspect in connection with the early morning murder. The officers also found over one pound of marijuana in the suspect’s possession.

Police can confirm that the suspect is on bail for armed robbery and murder...

Freeport, Bahamas - Police on Grand Bahama take another illegal firearm of the streets and a male is in custody.

According to reports at approximately 9:40pm on Saturday 24th January 2015 acting on information a team of officers was in the Coral Gardens area, Freeport, Grand Bahama. They approached a male, who was suspected of being in possession of an unlicenced firearm. The male upon seeing the officers produced a handgun and fired several shots at the officers.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are seeking the public’s help in solving the country’s latest homicide that occurred on Saturday 24thJanuary 2015.

According to reports, shortly before 7:00pm, police received a report that a man was found dead in a home at Eneas Street off Poinciana Drive. Police on arrival at the scene met the lifeless body of a man believe to be a Haitian National with a gunshot wound to the neck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Grand Bahama Crime has Decreased by 24 Percent, says ACP Seymour - Jan 23, 2015 - 1:33:56 PM

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama - In most areas of crime, there has been a reported decrease between 2013 and 2014, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Emmitt Seymour said during a press conference on Friday at the Gerald A. Bartlett Complex .

Referring to comments heard from the public, he said, crime has not increased in Grand Bahama, and described this as  "utter rubbish." The only challenges have been murder and attempted murder, which doubled.  In all other areas of crime, however, there was a decrease.
