1 dead, 4 in hospital after late night shooting in Nassau - Sep 30, 2016 - 2:12:07 AM

Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a shooting incident that has left a male dead and four other males detained in hospital on Thursday 29th September 2016.

According to reports, shortly before 11:00pm, a group of males were playing a game of dominoes in the driveway of a home located at Sunset Way, Sunset Park, when the occupants of a champagne coloured Honda Accord car armed with firearms pulled up and fired several shots at them before speeding off. One of the males was pronounced dead on the scene and four others were transported to hospital where they are being treated for injuries sustained...

Grand Bahama suspects arraigned on possession of unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition charges - Sep 27, 2016 - 5:10:18 PM

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Francis Peter Benoit age 65 years and Sharon Turner Benoit age 62 years both of #80 Hangman Close, Fortune Bay, Grand Bahama and both American citizens, were formally arraigned on Tuesday 27th September 2016, before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Magistrate Court #1 on Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Ammunition with the intent to supply charges. Francis Benoit pleaded guilty to both charges and was convicted and fine $10,000 dollars or two years at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services...

Stabbing incident in Bootle Bay has left a man hospitalized - Sep 27, 2016 - 9:17:19 AM

Freeport, Grand Bahama- Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a stabbing incident that has left a man hospitalized.

Reports are that on Monday 26th September 2016 shortly after 7:00pm, a male while at a business establishment in Bootle Bay, was stabbed to the upper body with a knife by a co-worker. He was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

2 Colombians in custody after drugs found on fuel tanker off Grand Bahama - Sep 26, 2016 - 11:58:44 PM


Reports are that on Sunday 25th September 2016, shortly after 4:00pm, Law Enforcement Officials inclusive off; Officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Defense Force, Bahamas Customs Department and U.S counterparts, acting on information, conducted a search of a fuel tanker that was anchored off the coast of Pinder’s Point, where they discovered a large quantity of suspected cocaine that has a street value of over $625,000 dollars.

Two male Colombian nationals are in police custody and are expected to be formally charged in connection with this matter. Investigation is continuing...

Police are investigating the circumstance surrounding the death of a man who allegedly committed suicide on Sunday 25th September 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 8:00am, police received a report of a man found dead at a residence located at Canaan Lane off Shirley Street. When police arrived at the scene police they met the lifeless body of a man hanging from a rope attached to tree near his home. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death...

Cat Island, Bahamas - According to reports, around 1:00pm on Thursday 22nd September 2016, Police Officers in Cat Island acting on information went to a beach on that island, where they uncovered just over 2 pounds of cocaine.

The drugs was later handed over to Drug Enforcement Unit Officers in New Providence for further investigations...

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2016, Southwestern Division officers took an adult male into custody after he was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle on Thursday 21st September 2016.

Reports are that shortly before 7:00am Southwestern Division officers were on routine patrol on Lazaretto Road, when they spotted a male stripping a Bluebird Nissan vehicle. Police in Bimini are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged drowning of an American adult female.

Reports are that on Wednesday 21st September 2016 shortly after 10:00am, a 60 year old American female of New York was brought into Bimini on a vessel where it is reported that while diving some three miles off North Rock, she began experiencing difficulties. The victim was attended to by medical personnel of the Bimini Clinic where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Police probe alleged drowing of American visitor in Exuma - Sep 21, 2016 - 12:11:01 AM

Preliminary reports are that, shortly after 5:00pm on Tuesday 20th September 2016, a 41 – year old female visitor from Minnesota, is alleged to have drowned while swimming in waters off Forbes Hill, Exuma.

Despite extensive CPR efforts the woman was pronounced dead by the island’s doctor.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was found dead in waters off Harbour Island on Saturday 17th September 2016.

Reports are that shortly after 2:00pm, police received a report of a body of man found in waters off Harbour Island. When Police and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived on the scene they met the body of an adult male submerged in the water. The body of the man was removed from the water and taken to shore where he was pronounced dead by the island’s doctor...
