Bimini and Freeport, Bahamas - The first incident occurred on Monday 2nd May 2016 shortly after 9:00am, officers in Bimini while at the Bimini International Airport had occasion to stop and search a male passenger where they discovered strapped to his person over two pounds of suspected marijuana. He was arrested and taken into police custody.

The second incident occurred shortly after 11:00am on Monday 2nd May 2016, officers of Operation Turf Sweep acting on information went to an area on Hudson Avenue where they discovered a .9mm pistol...

Police probe alleged drowning in Eleuthera - Apr 30, 2016 - 6:55:33 PM


ELEUTHERA, Bahamas - Police in Eleuthera are investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent drowning death of an adult male from Palmetto Point that occurred on Saturday 30th April 2016.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, the victim was on fishing trip in a boat along with another man in waters off Governor’s Harbour, when he fell overboard. The victim was immediately pulled from the water in an unconscious state and taken to shore. Despite extensive CPR efforts the victim was pronounced dead by the island’s medical doctor. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death...

Nassau, Bahamas - Two adult women, one from Amsterdam and the other from from Jamaica are in custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs at LPIA on Friday 29th April 2016.

Reports are that around 3:30pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information conducted a search of a suitcase at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), where they uncovered just over three (3) pounds of ecstasy pills. Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade on Sunday 24th April 2016 presided over the swearing in ceremony for 100 new recruits into the Royal Bahamas Police Force, who begin six months of vigorous training at the Police Training College this week.

The ceremony, which took place at the Paul Farquharson Conference Center, Police Headquarters, was attended by of members of the Force’s Senior Executive Leadership Team, Seniors Officers, Physician, Chaplain and instructors at the Police Training College.

Commissioner Greenslade in welcoming the recruits shared the following expectations:

That they all came with the willingness to demonstrate Courage, Integrity and Loyalty;
That they will all demonstrate Care, Respect and Trust...

Police in Abaco are investigating a traffic accident that has left two males dead.
Reports are that on Friday 22nd April 2016, shortly after 7:00pm, police were called to a traffic accident that occurred on Earnest Dean Highway near Spring City, where a white 2003 Honda Accord vehicle with three male passengers were travelling north when the vehicle collided into a utility pole. Two male passengers succumbed to injuries received and the other male is listed in stable condition at the Marsh Harbour Clinic.

Police are actively investigating this matter and are appealing to the general public to adhere to the laws that govern our streets which is to drive within the speed limit and to always wear your seat belt...
