Yesterday, Monday 20th February, 2012 at 9:00am, students at Freeport Primary School hosted a team of officers from the Police Traffic Division during a ‘Special Assembly’.

This assembly is the first of many to be held in the Freeport area to educate students and teachers alike on Road Safety Rules and Regulations to assist in their safety travel on the streets OF Grand Bahama. Some of the tips included:

• Proper use of side walks.
• Always walking to face oncoming traffic on the side of the road.
• Stop before crossing the street.
• Look left, look right and look

Grand Bahama suspect arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition - Feb 20, 2012 - 7:53:51 PM

Grand Bahama Island - This evening, Monday 20th February, 2012, a 24 year old resident of Martin Town, Eight Mile Rock is in police custody after he was arrested shortly before 10:00am this morning for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

It was approximately 9:40am this morning, when a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were in the Holmes Rock area conducting an investigation when the arrest was made.

Investigations are being continued by officers from the Central Detective Unit.

Grand Bahama - In regards to the persons arrested in the Redwood Lane area during “Operation Dry Wood” conducted by a team of detectives from the Drug Enforcement Unit. The following persons appeared in the courts respectively:

Bradley Rolle DOB 14th November, 1985; Britney Deandra Rolle DOB 7th January, 1992; Darnell Elizabeth Ferguson DOB 18th October, 1980; Corey Ricardo Nixon DOB 17th May, 1971; and Stafford Smith Jr. DOB 26th June, 1992 all of Freeport were formally charged for Possession of Dangerous Drugs.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are questioning a 29 year old male in connection with a triple shooting incident that has left two (2) people dead and third in hospital. The incident reportedly occurred around 1:45 am on Sunday 12th February, 2012. Initial police reports indicate that the victims were attending a party at Mackey Yard off Fire Trail Road when a fight erupted between a group people. It is reported that a male produced a handgun and fired gunshots which resulted in a 24year old female of Farrington Road and a 26 year old male of Gibbs Corner receiving gunshot injuries to the body. Both victims were taken to hospital via private vehicle where they succumbed to their injuries.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are investigating a shooting incident that has left a 23 year old man dead. The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 10:00 pm on Friday 10th February, 2012 in front of a residence on Scotts Street, between West Street and Hospital Lane. Initial police reports indicate that the victim was sitting in a vehicle, along with three (3) other people, when a male armed with handgun fired gunshots which resulted in the victim being shot to the upper body.

Police are investigating two (2) separate shooting incidents that have two (2) men in hospital. The first incident reportedly occurred shortly after 9:00 pm on Friday 10th February, 2012...

Police Arrest Men for Alleged Abduction - Feb 10, 2012 - 12:51:53 AM

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are questioning two (2) males, ages 19 and 18 years, in connection with an alleged abduction report. The incident reportedly occurred around 7:30 pm on Thursday 09th February, 2012. Initial police reports indicate that a student of the College of the Bahamas was entering his vehicle when he was approached by a male allegedly armed with a handgun.

It is reported that the culprit was later accompanied by two (2) other men who tied up the victim and placed him into the trunk of the car. Police later intercepted the vehicle on Marshall Road, where the student was located unharmed and the culprits...

Grand Bahama, The Bahamas -  Shortly before 5:00pm this afternoon, Saturday 4th February, 2012, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit on Grand Bahama Island recovered a high-powered weapon and a quantity of ammunitions from the Adventurers Way area in Freeport.

At present, no arrest was made, however, investigations are being continued by officers from the Central Detective Unit....

NASSAU, Bahamas - On Wednesday 15th February, 2012 around 10:30 pm a male was found unresponsive in the trunk of a dark green Honda vehicle at Sir Milo Butler, Highway. Police have identified the victim as 23 year old AKYTO SAMUEL SMITH of FAITH GARDENS off CARMICHAEL ROAD.

Police have also identified the man shot and killed at Winders Terrace, Malcolm Allotment on Wednesday 15th February, 2012 as 21 year old WILLIAM FELTON
