RBPF Nassau: Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing into Vehicle on Marathon Road - May 26, 2017 - 5:28:24 PM

Officers assigned to the Police Traffic Department are investigating the circumstances surrounding a traffic incident that has left a motorcyclist dead on Friday 26th May 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00pm, a male was traveling on a 450 CC Trail motorcycle on Marathon Road, when he struck a Toyota car driven by a woman who was attempting to make a turn off Marathon Road. The motorcyclist received serious injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Grand Bahama man found dead in vehicle with gunshot wounds - May 26, 2017 - 12:30:44 PM

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Police in Grand Bahama need your assistance in solving the island’s latest homicide that occurred on Thursday 25th May 2017.

Reports are that shortly before 11:00pm, police were called to an area at the rear of East Sunrise Plaza, where they met the body of a male in a vehicle with gunshot wounds to the head. EMS personnel were called to the scene and reported no signs of life.

Police are actively investigating this matter and are appealing to the general public for anyone with any information that can assist them in their investigation, to contact the Central Detective Unit in Grand Bahama at telephone number 350-3107...

Grand Bahama stabbing incident leaves male hospitalized - May 26, 2017 - 10:15:29 AM

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a stabbing incident that has left a male hospitalized on Thursday 25th May 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00am, a male was reportedly involved in an altercation with another male in the Fawcette Lane area when he was stabbed to the body. He was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital via private vehicle, seen by doctor and is listed in serious condition.

A 20 year old male of Oates Lane was arrested by police in connection with this matter...

RBPF Nassau: Guyanese Woman nabbed at LPIA with Cocaine in her Hair - 3 handguns seized during home raid, 1 in custody - May 24, 2017 - 9:50:11 AM

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, alert Drug Enforcement Unit officers took a Guyanese woman into custody following the seizure of a quantity of cocaine on Tuesday 23rd May 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, a team of officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit conducted search of a Guyanese woman passenger at the Bahamas Customs arrival area of the Lynden Pindling International Airport, who had just arrived on a Caribbean Airlines flight from Suriname. During the search, one taped package containing just over two pounds of cocaine was found concealed in a weave attached to her hair. The woman was subsequently taken into custody for this discovery...

Nassau police probe death of male following condo fire - May 21, 2017 - 12:08:16 PM

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was found dead in home following a fire on Saturday 20th May 2017.

According to reports, shortly before 9:00am, officers from the Police Fire Services received a report of a fire at a condominium building located off Cable Beach, West Bay Street. When Firefighters arrived at the location, they saw smoke emanating from a unit in the condominium. The officers used intense force to gain entry the unit and once inside they extinguish the fire. On checking the interior of the building the officers found the lifeless body of a Caucasian male lying on the floor...

Suspect shot dead after open firing on Nassau police, AK-47 assault weapon seized - May 21, 2017 - 10:10:13 AM

Her Majesty's Coroner, Mrs. Jeanine Weech-Gomez is investigating the death of a man who shot after he, along with another man open fired on police following a car chase on Saturday, May 20th.

According to reports, shortly after 3:00pm, police were conducting a traffic stop on Shrimp Road off Carmichael Road, when they saw a Honda Stream vehicle occupied by two males pass by with a high powered weapon inside. The officers signaled to the driver to stop but he refused and sped off. A chase ensued that ended when the vehicle crashed into a fence in Pride Estates, where the two males armed with an AK-47 Assault Rifle and a handgun exited the vehicle and opened fire at the police. The police returned fire fatally shooting one of the suspects who dropped the AK-47 Assault Rifle...

RBPF Nassau: 2 Men arrested, 1 shot following car chase - 2 in custody for armed robbery- Drug arrest - Firearm seized - May 19, 2017 - 11:17:54 AM

According to reports, around 10:00pm, police received a report the occupants in a Nissan car were discharging a firearms in the area of Boyd Road and Providence Avenue. Responding officers arrived in the area shortly thereafter and spotted the vehicle. The officers signaled to the occupants of the vehicle to stop, but they refused and sped off. A chased ensued in the Farrington Road area during which time the suspects fired several shots at the police. The police returned fire and the vehicle crashed into a nearby wall on Pitt Road, where one of the men ran from the vehicle fired several shots at the police and fled on foot. The officers gave chase and later caught this suspect hiding in a doghouse nearby. The other suspect who had been shot was arrested in the vehicle. A handgun was found in the suspect’s vehicle...

Law Enforcement Officials uncover a large amount of Dangerous Drugs at the Grand Bahama Container Port on Monday 15th May 2017.

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with other Law Enforcement Officials and Security Personnel at the Grand Bahama Container Port, acting on information conducted a search of a 20 ft. container where they uncovered (7) seven black duffle bags, each containing suspected cocaine. The estimated weight of the Dangerous Drugs is 490.5lbs and its estimated street value is five million one hundred and twenty five thousand dollars...

Man found hanging in a tree in Fortune Bay Drive area of Grand Bahama - May 15, 2017 - 4:19:12 PM

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating the death of a 39 year old male.

Reports are that on Monday 15th May 2017 shortly after 9:00am, police were called to the Fortune Bay Drive area where a 39 year old male was found hanging from a tree. He was pronounced dead on scene by doctor. Foul play is not suspected in this matter however an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Man dies in hospital following police car chase in Nassau - May 14, 2017 - 11:05:34 AM


Four men who fired at police during a car chase were detained in hospital on Saturday 13th May 2017. However one of the men has since succumbed to his injuries.

According to reports, shortly after 3:00am, Police were on routine patrol when they attempted to stop a Honda vehicle for a traffic violation at the junction of Blue Hill and Wulff Roads. The vehicle refused to stop and sped off. The officers gave chase and during the pursuit the occupants of the vehicle fired several shots at the police...

Haitian Migrants Detained in South Eleuthera - May 14, 2017 - 10:11:55 AM

According to reports, shortly after 3:00am on Saturday 13th May 2017, police received receive a report that several Haitians migrants landed in a sloop off Cape South Eleuthera. Responding officers arrived on the scene and were able to detain about 50 Haitian Nationals. The officers on checking the immediate area found the lifeless body of a male on the shoreline suspected to be part of the group of migrants.

The migrants have all been handed over to immigration officials. Investigations are ongoing.

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, Police took two more illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents overnight.

Three adult males were taken into custody.

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) struck another blow against organized drug trafficking in The Bahamas, this time with the seizure of a large amount of marijuana and the arrest of two persons in the Exuma Cays on Thursday 11th May 2017.

According to reports, around 2:00pm, a team of officers assigned to the Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by officers from the Police Marine Support Services Branch acting on intelligence conducted a search of an area on Big Galliot Cay in the Exuma Chains, where they uncovered nine crocus bags containing 120 pounds of marijuana...
