American resident of Eleuthera dead after plane crash - Oct 25, 2014 - 11:32:23 AM

ELEUTHERA, Bahamas - According to report, sometime around 8:30am on Friday 24th October 2014 An American resident of Whykees Estates Eleuthera was piloting his Cessna 310 aircraft and attempted to land at the Governor’sHarbour Airport when he encountered poor visibility and bad weather. The local Air Traffic Controllers directed him to the North Eleuthera Airport. The control tower eventually lost communication with the aircraft some time later.


Sometime around 4:30pm a resident of James Cistern, Eleuthera observed the body of a Caucasian male on the shoreline strapped in an aircraft seat. EMS responded to the scene where the male was pronounced dead...

Nassau, Bahamas - Police need the public’s help in finding a Jamaican national who escaped lawful custody from the Carmichael Road Police Station.

According to reports, sometime around 7:20am on Thursday 22 October 2014, officers attempted to place Lance McDonald age 53yrs of Carmichael Road and Westmorland Jamaica into the cell. McDonald resisted the officers and was able to make good his escape after a short struggle in the station. He was arrested for illegally entering the Bahamas.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police need the public’s help in solving several armed robbery incidents.

In the first incident, according to reports, sometime around 8:00am on Thursday 22 October 2014, two males entered a petty shop situated at McCullough Corner brandishing a handgun, held the proprietor at bay and demanded cash. The men relieved the proprietor of a small amount of cash before making good their escape on foot.

U.S. Embassy Presents RBPF with State-of-the-Art Digital Fingerprint Technology - Oct 22, 2014 - 6:26:14 PM

Continuing cooperation under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), the United States Government and twelve CARICOM nations, including The Bahamas, recently partnered to implement the CBSI Digital Fingerprint Program to assist in regional crime fighting initiatives. The state-of-the-art $1.8M regional project was designed to provide Caribbean countries with the capability to collect, store, and analyze fingerprint data in a digital format that meets international standards in order to facilitate regional and international data sharing.

One of the advantages of the digital fingerprint initiative is a “cross search” capability that allows law enforcement officials to work with their regional counterparts to determine if suspicious people or individuals with criminal records also have criminal histories in another country...

Million Dollar Drug Bust during day 5 of Operation Showtime II- 2 firearms seized- 13 arrested - Oct 20, 2014 - 10:22:04 AM

Nassau, Bahamas - POLICE are reporting the seizure of a large quantity of dangerous drugs and the arrest of two men ages 36 and 31 from Acklins Island during day five of “Operation Showtime II ”, held in New Providence late Sunday 18th October 2014 through the early morning of Monday 20th October 2014.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am this morning, a team of officers assigned to “Operation Showtime II ” along with officers from the Police Marine Support Unit acting on intelligence went to an area at sea, one mile south of New Providence, where they intercepted a 32 foot vessel with the two suspects onboard. The officers conducted a search of the vessel and uncovered just over 1,000 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of one million dollars.

34 illegal Haitian Nationals arrested in Abaco - Oct 6, 2014 - 10:01:10 AM

Abaco, Bahamas - On Sunday 5th October 2014 shortly after 2:00am, police received information that suspicious persons were seen walking in the area of Earnest Dean Highway. Officers along with Immigration and Defence Force Officers went to the area and arrested (34) thirty four illegal Haitian Nationals. They are expected to be flown into New Providence on Sunday 5th October 2014.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police need the public’s help in solving two overnight shooting incidents.

In the first incident, a 51yr old male of Blue Hill Road reported that sometime around 12:55am while at Poincianna Drive, he was accosted by a lone male, who produced a firearm and demanded cash. A struggle ensued and the assailant shot him once to the knee before making good his escape.

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a stabbing incident that has left a 32 year old male resident of Frobisher Drive in police custody.

Reports are that on Friday 3rd October 2014, shortly after 2:00am, police received information that while at a residence on Frobisher Drive, two males were involved in an altercation which resulted in one of the males being stabbed about the body and the other receiving injuries to the face. Abaco, Bahamas - A 43 year old male of Spring City, Abaco is in police custody after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Reports are that on Friday 3rd October 2014 shortly after 2:00pm, police received information that a male is being held by Defence Force Officers who was found in possession of an unlicensed 12 gauge shot gun with (25) live rounds of ammunition on board a vessel at the dock area in Marsh Harbour, Abaco. The suspect and illegal firearm was handed over to police who is investigating this matter.

Nassau, Bahamas - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a three weeks old female infant at South Beach around 4:00am this morning. The incident reportedly occurred during the power outage. EMS responded to the residence and rendered assistance before transporting the infant to PMH, where she was pronounced lifeless.

Andros man drowns after attempting to rescue son - Sep 28, 2014 - 12:37:22 PM

ANDROS, Bahamas - Police in Andros are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 51 year old man of Grants, Mangrove Cay, Andros who apparently drowned while on a fishing trip on Saturday 27th September 2014.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 4:00pm, the victim was on a fishing trip with his two sons in waters just east of Mangrove Cay, Andros, when one of his sons fell over board. The victim attempted to rescue his son and apparently drowned during the process. The victim was taken ashore and pronounced dead by the island’s local doctor.
