RBPF Nassau: Police investigates armed robbery - Recovers illegal firearms and dangerous drugs

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police on the island of New Providence are investigating an armed robbery which occurred on Friday 12th June, 2020

According to reports, shortly before 8:00pm, two females were sitting in a silver Nissan Cube in front of a residence off Soldier Road, when two men armed with handguns accosted them and robbed them of the vehicle and other personal property. Investigations into this matter continues.

POLICE RECOVERED ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND DANGEROUS
DRUGS – TWO MALES ARRESTED

The efforts of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force resulted in the removal of dangerous drugs and illegal firearm from the Street of New Providence on Friday 12th June, 2020.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 9:00am, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information went to an area off Johnson Road where they conducted a search of a bushy area. The officers recovered a quantity of suspected marijuana. No arrest was made in connection with this incident.
In the second incident, according to reports, shortly before 10:00am, officers from the Southern Division while conducting static duty at the intersection of Market Street and Wulff Road, occupants in a vehicle aroused the officers’ suspicion. The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and a quantity of suspected marijuana, (1) one black 9mm pistol, (1) one .380 pistol, (2) magazines and (14) unfired rounds of
ammunition was recovered. Two male suspects were taken into custody.

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with our investigations into criminal matters, to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station
