RBPF Nassau: Police recovered dangerous drugs - Police investigates armed robbery

POLICE RECOVERED DANGEROUS DRUGS – ONE SUSPECT
ARRESTED

The efforts of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force resulted in the removal of dangerous drugs from the Street of New Providence on Monday 13th July 2020.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly before 2:00pm, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on information executed a search warrant on a residence situated on Bamboo Crest. The officers recovered a quantity of marijuana plants. An adult male was arrested and taken into custody for the offence of Cultivation of Dangerous Drugs. Investigation into this matter continues.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, officers from the Operations Unit acting on information proceeded to Union Village, where they conducted a search of an abandon building. A quantity of suspected marijuana was recovered by the officers as a result of the search. No arrest was made during this incident.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ARMED ROBBERY

Police on the island of New Providence are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a male suspect believed to be responsible for an Armed Robbery which occurred on Monday 13th July 2020.

According to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, a male while leaving his home situated off Golden Isles Road, was accosted by a gunman who robbed him of his wallet and cell phone. The suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Investigation into this matter continues. 

POLICE REMINDER TO THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY

Police wish to remind the business community that pursuant to article 9a of the COVID19 Emergency Orders that Bars are prohibited and are to remain closed.
If a liquor store allows patrons to drink and socialize on-site, they effectively have become a Bar and violates the Order and will be asked to close.

Liquor stores remain open for take out or delivery if not allowing themselves to become Bars.

Police are appealing to members of the public, who may have information that can assist with our investigation into these incidents and other criminal matters, to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 502-9991/2, Crime stoppers at 328-TIPS (8477) or the nearest police station
