The recent session of The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association's "Play
Tennis" featured an introduction to the backhand stroke. The backhand
can be a one-handed or two-handed stroke. Many of the kids prefer the
two-handed backhand.
Play Tennis has welcomed up to approximately
20 participants since its resumption at the beginning of the year,
keeping in line with social distancing and safety protocols. The kids
are very enthusiastic to learn the game of tennis in this safe and fun
environment...

BLTA matchplay Tennis Series - Jan 14, 2021 - 8:48:25 AM
The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association(BLTA) has started a matchplay
series to jumpstart tennis play for juniors. The matchplay was started
in the last quarter of 2020 at the National Tennis Centre as competitive
tournaments in The Bahamas were previously prohibited.

The Football Bowl Association is getting a new name and brand: Bowl
Season. The debut of the name change, logo and website for the
organization is part of a major brand overhaul announced today by
Executive Director Nick Carparelli.
The new Bowl Season tagline,
“A Celebration of College Football,” embraces the grand tradition of the
bowl system and its enduring value to student-athletes. Highlighting
the broader university community, including spirit squads, marching
bands, student athletic staff and fans, Bowl Season will work with all
existing bowls to promote the benefits of the entire bowl system.

As The Bahamas celebrated their 47th Independence, the Bahamas
Professional Golfers Association (BPGA) also welcomed new beginnings. On
July 11, 2020, the BPGA held a golf shootout at the Ocean Club Golf
Course to recognize its founder, golfing pioneer, the late Leroy ‘Roy’
Bowe, OBE and to hold the general election of new officers.
In
1973, just at the country had moved into its first independence, Roy
Bowe, who founded the BPGA in 1968 hosted a tournament on July 11th on
the then-named Paradise Island Golf Course...

Like the rest of the world, University of The Bahamas (UB) Mingoes
student-athletes have had to balance disappointment with distancing in
this COVID-19 environment, withdrawing from the very interactions that
have been pivotal to their growth and success.
To stay conditioned, home life has been infused with the routines they
used to do on the field, at the track and at the gym. The COVID-19
pandemic and social distancing protocols to curb the spread of the
disease have led to the suspension of local sporting events and the
closure of sporting venues and facilities.
