breezy and not too warm, Sunday on the greens for their 9th Annual
Sands Beer Golf Tournament in Grand Bahama.

World Junior Tennis Tournament in Santo Domingo: Day1

The World Juniors Tennis Competition for top junior Girls U14 in the region is being held in Santo Domingo.
Bahamas started competition after the opening ceremonies against the
home crowd favorites. They fought but lost to the Dominican Republic.
Sierra Rodgers was up first and lost 0-6, 1-6. Kaylee Kanuka followed

UB golf turns in solid performance at first ever international competition

The University of The Bahamas golf team turned in respectable scores
after the team’s first ever international competition this weekend
against Johnson and Wales University and Keiser University at the Miami
Shores Golf Course.
Alex Gibson led the team with a 18-hole 90. John Hall shot 94 and Deangelo Stubbs shot 110.

The Bahamas Amateur Wrestling Federation will take part in the first
Caribbean SuperWeek, an initiative to further develop Olympic-style
wrestling throughout the Caribbean.

The Girls Competition begin on Monday at The World Juniors Tennis
Championships. Participating are top juniors in the U14 category from
the region including countries such as El Salvador, Curacao, Puerto

Grand Bahama Amateur Athletic Association (GBAAA). The GBAAA uses all

UB Women’s Volleyball team searches for players

recruitment exercise this weekend—Friday March 16 and Saturday March
17—at the Kendal Isaacs gym. The sessions start 6:30 both nights.

Lima 2019 has named LATAM Airlines as the Official Airline of this
summer’s Pan American and Parapan American Games. LATAM will be
responsible for flying thirteen countries’ delegations of athletes,
National Olympic Committee representatives and technical officials to

It was a tough fight for The Bahamas on Day 1 at The World Juniors Tennis Competition in Santo Domingo.
Bahamas played Costa Rica but lost in singles matches. Anthony Burrows
was up first against Arayer of Costa Rica. He played hard but lost 2-6
3-6. Michael Major was up next against Quiros. He won the first set
convincingly 2-6, and lost second and third sets 4-6 2-6. In the doubles
matchup the Bahamas duo of Anthony and Dentry Mortimer fought but lost

Lima 2019 inaugurates first sporting venue for Pan American Games

With approximately five months to go until the start of the Pan American
and Parapan American Games, Lima 2019 has inaugurated its first new
sporting venue – the baseball stadium in the Villa Maria del Triunfo
district of Lima.
At the heart of the event, which took place
this Saturday 10 March, was the Peruvian Baseball National Team who
conducted a training session at the new state-of-the-art facility. The
baseball stadium features a World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC)
approved field, changing rooms and seats for 1,800 spectators...
Bahamian Judo Champion on Provisional Qualification list for Tokyo 2020 Olympics

After training and competing in Mexico, Israel, France and Bulgaria in
February, Judo national champion Cynthia Rahming competed at the 2019
Peru Continental Open. She earned a fifth place finish defeating Kiara
Arango of Peru along the way before losing in a controversial match to
Shadi Ebrahimi in the medal rounds.
"The journey has been
tough," said Cynthia. "It has taken me years to win at this level but I
have not given up! I intend to win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and I am

UB Athletics hires first full-time coach

UB Athletics has hired former track and field national team hurdler
Ednal Rolle as the first full-time head coach at the institution. The
internationally certified coach takes reins of the program starting
March 4, 2019.
“We are excited to have such a high-caliber coach such as Ednal
join the UB athletics team as the first full-time coach,” Athletics
Director Kimberley Rolle said. “This is the first in what is anticipated
to be several strategic hirings over the next two to three years to
ensure consistency in recruitment, retention, and high level
performances from varsity teams.”

Senior officials from the Lima 2019 Organizing Committee have
concluded a three-day visit to the UK this week to learn and apply
lessons learnt from London 2012 to Lima in order to regenerate large
parts of the Peruvian capital.

the visit, Lima 2019 Carlos Neuhaus, together with the newly elected
Mayor of Lima Jorge Muñoz, toured London 2012 venues and met with
officials who were influential in delivering one of the most successful

Swift Athletics Head Coach Andrew Tynes said many sporting medals and
trophies may well be in The Bahamas’ future thanks in part to the well
of athletic potential within the B3A-sanctioned track and field club.
