Jordan prince attends Grand Bahama girls' soccer league kickoff

-- Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, a leading figure from FIFA (Fédération
Internationale de Football Association), the governing body for world
soccer attended the launch of the new Grand Bahama Women’s Champions
League on Sunday, March 1st held at the Freeport Football Rugby Club. He
went on to Nassau after his visit in Grand Bahama.
Bin Al-Hussein, third son of the late King Hussein, is vice president of
the organisation’s Asia region and hit headlines round the globe when
he announced in January he was to challenge Sepp Blatter for the
presidency in an election in May.

The Bahamas has a reigning state champion in wrestling.
Wrinkle, a senior at Asheville School, won the North Carolina
Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA) state high school
championship at the weekend. He defeated Bentley Dalton of Charlotte
Latin School to win the 152 pounds title and help Asheville to a fifth
place finish among 16 schools.

NEW YORK -- The Hon. Forrester J. Carroll, Bahamas Consul
General to New York, attended a men’s basketball game at SUNY Maritime College on
Tuesday, February 17, 2015, during which Bahamian athlete T’Vaughn Gibson was
honoured for being the third player in the college’s basketball program’s

Freeport Rugby Football Club recently
said farewell to a long-standing and valued member of the Club. Adolfo Vargas was a key coach
in the successful youth soccer programme.
Coach Vargas was a mainstay
of the youth academy ever since he arrived on the island 4 years ago, and his on-field
coaching and off-field
advice, demeanor, and
leadership has been instrumental in developing the academy’s programme for boys aged 15 through 19 years.
