Jon Rahm continued his ascent to the very top of golf’s world order by moving into the semi-finals of the WGC – Dell Technologies Match Play after crushing the hopes of Charles Howell III and Søren Kjeldsen in the last 16 and quarter-finals on Saturday.

Congratulations are extended to three (3) of our juniors who recently gave amazing performances overseas, namely Iesha Shepherd, Donte Armbrister and Jacobi Bain.

Iesha Shepherd recently emerged as USTA champion at Extreme Tennis Academy, Miami, Florida in the Girls' 18 and under - Level 6. Iesha advanced to the final and defeated Karly Friedland 6-0, 6-2.

Donte Armbrister also prevailed as the USTA champion at Next Level Tennis at K-Town, Miami, Florida - Level 7 in the Boys' 16 and under...

The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) today announced their title sponsorship of three major sporting events. BTC will be the title partner for the IAAF World Relays, the CARIFTA Track & Field Championships scheduled for Curacao, and the CARIFTA Swimming Championships scheduled which will take place on our shores.

The sponsorship amounts are as follows:

· IAAF World Relays $275,000.00

· CARIFTA Swimming $90,000.00...

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture in conjunction with The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA's) held a press conference on Friday, March 10, at the Ministry to update the public on upcoming events including The Bahamas High School Nationals and the BAAA's High School Relays. Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Dr. Danny Johnson announced the events are starting Wednesday March 15 - 17 with the high school relays and ending with the test event, the nationals, March 18 and 19.

Minister Johnson also announced that plans are in the works for a sports academy and a sports hotel to house athletes participating in future events such as these...

Event organizers are planning for the inaugural West End International race day April 22 and 23 at West End Village in Grand Bahama Island.

The high-speed boat races will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Sat., April 22 and Sun., April 23 with a kickoff party Friday night, April 21, at the Old Bahama Bay Resort and Yacht Harbour.

Racers from all over the world will compete at the West End International, with hydroplanes, Jersey skiffs and power boats hurtling up to 170 m.p.h...

Even though I left on a sports scholarship for high school in the United States, I placed boundaries on what baseball could do for me. I didn’t understand the role it would play in my life. And yet, several years later I also earned a college scholarship and got drafted on four separate occasions. I finally signed with the San Francisco Giants to start my career as a professional baseball player, and with that I travelled the world.

Small steps continue to be taken on Grand Bahama in re-establishing boys’ and men’s soccer to the island.

Recent programmes at the YMCA and the Freeport Rugby Football Club have been successful in getting grassroots soccer player for boys aged 6 to 11 with over 100 boys signed up between the 2 programmes this season.

The Saturday programme at the Freeport Rugby Football Club has been so successful that organisers are extending the season until at least Easter break to allow boys to continue playing the game...

At mile 44 of 50, Stephen Johnson, a branch manager of Commonwealth Bank, thought he was having a heart attack. He rested his bike near the side of the road in the grass and walked across the street towards the beach.

The University of The Bahamas (UB) men's basketball team played its first game under its new name, (UB) Mingoes, Saturday, March 4, at the Kendall Isaacs Gymnasium. On this occasion, the university's "Mingoes" Mascot made a debut. The name 'mingoes' is in recognition of the National Bird, the flamingo.  UB President Dr. Rodney Smith, enjoyed the game, along with students, staff and faculty.

Presenting its athletics brand to the community, the University of The Bahamas (UB) held a fun-filled 'UB Blue Day and Pep Rally' on Thursday, March 2, at the Oakes Field Campus, introducing the men's basketball team, 'UB Mingoes,' and the institution's 'Mingoes Mascot' to the student body and the general public.

Bahamas Judo had it's best international performance ever at the Florida Open on February 25th. All 18 athletes medalled! Some attained multiple medals for multiple divisions. In total a haul was made of 9 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze. Trophies for 2nd Best Team overall, and best male senior athlete (Joshua Mcfall).
