Popeyes Bahamas Bowl to Invest More In Charities

While many are looking forward to the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl game on
Christmas Eve, one of the highlights for organizers is the charity event
associated with the Bowl to give back to less fortunate children in The
Television network ESPN recently acquired the
game, but according to President of Popeyes Bahamas Bowl Britton
Banowsky the Bowl is expected to impact the community by beginning a
Bahamas Bowl Youth Football League.
“We want to start
with 10-year-olds on four different islands and so it is a pretty
ambitious goal,” he said. “It is our hope that we start with that this
fall and end up with a championship game on the week of the Bowl game...
Bahamas 12U Tennis Team Making Waves in Curacao

Our 12U team girls' team consisting of Emma Weech and Perjae Major,
Denali Nottage and Anthony Burrows Jr. returned home after competing in
the international tennis tournament in Curacao. Our girls finished 4th,
falling short of the opportunity to play in the Masters Event in Mexico
in November 2015. Our boys' team consisting of Denali Nottage and
Anthony Burrows Jr finished 6th. Both Curacao's boys and girls' teams
won the gold. Barbados came in 2nd for the girls and Aruba 3rd. For the
boys, Jamaica placed 2nd and St. Lucia 3rd...
Shaunae Miller takes silver in the 400m in Beijing

Bahamian track star Shaunae Miller took silver in today's 400 m race at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China. Taking gold was American Allyson Felix who took off like a shot, and came in at 49.26.
Miller finished strongly with a personal best of 49.67. Jamaica's Shericka Jackson took bronze with 49.99.
"I feel so blessed and shocked," Miller told The Tribune

at the meeting in Monaco and up to last week, I was not able to train

Bahamas' Jeffery Gibson took the bronze medal today at the 15th
1AAF World Championships in Beijing, China. This is the country's first
medal at the Games. Russia's Denis Kudryavtsev took silver and Kenya's
Nicholas Bett took gold.

The Bahamas has a 4-member 12U National Team is participating in the
ITF 12U Caribbean COTECC Team Championships being held August 23 -
Team consists of Denali Nottage of Freeport (No. 1 seed), Anthony
Burrows, Jr. (No. 2 seed) for the Boys and Emma Weech (No. 1 seed) and
Perjae Major (No. 2 seed) for the Girls. Both teams are being coached by

(BBF Statement) After months of team preparation, Team Bahamas was
advised, it had been cancelled from the COPABE 15U Tournament, due to
the COPABE member, the Bahamas Baseball Association (BBA) had missed the
team registration deadline.
Due to the BBA being the member of
COPABE, it is their responsibility to meet the required deadlines and
submit the required information as the Bahamas Baseball Federation (BBF)
was not allowed to communicate with the Mexican Organizing Committee

Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic announced today a three-year sponsorship
extension that will keep the tournament at the Ocean Club Golf Course at
Atlantis, Paradise Island resort through 2018.

Bahamas Ministry of Tourism together signed a three-year contract,
