FIFA: Independent Ethics Committee Bans Lionel Haven - Apr 29, 2016 - 6:43:44 PM

- The adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee, chaired by Mr Hans Joachim Eckert, has banned Mr Lionel Haven from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level.

The investigations against Mr Haven, a former member of the Executive Committee of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), concerned his non-disclosure of information related to cash payments at an event held by the CFU in May 2011. The investigations were conducted by Dr Cornel Borbély, the chairman of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee...

She’s a potter by trade, but every April Jessica sets aside her pottery making and sets sail on the Dream Girl to compete in the National Family Island Regatta in George Town, Exuma.

EXUMA, The Bahamas – Regatta fever is in the air in picturesque Elizabeth Harbour, the centre of attention as sailors compete in the National Family Island Regatta in George Town.

Over 70 native sloops are competing in Classes A, B, C, D and E and Cup Races in the 63rd annual regatta taking place from April 26th to 30th.

Residents and visitors have taken their vantage point from anchored yachts and boats in the harbor or any available site under a stall or anywhere along the shoreline just to get a glimpse of the sailors as they skipper their boats in intense competition...

NASSAU, Bahamas — Bahamian Luke Maillis set three national records in freediving at the ninth annual Vertical Blue Freediving Competition held at Dean’s Blue Hole in Long Island last week.

Maillis dove to a depth of 37 meters or 121 feet in one minute 45 seconds in the constant no fins category and 46 meters or 150 feet in the constant weight dive with a time of one minute 30seconds on the first day of the competition on April 22.

On day three, Maillis dove to 46 meters again in the free immersion dive with a time of one minute 35 seconds...

It's been an exciting wrap up for high schools participating in the sport of soccer as this past week, the final teams were determined which will be represented at the National High School Championships slated to start April 25th and finish on the 30th. 

Monday, the qualifying rounds will take place from 4 -  7pm at the Roscoe A.L. Davies Field, QE Sports Centre.

Senior, Tyler Davis, Romero Cornish and Daniel Wright will be attending Eastern Wyoming College in August. All three of these players hail from Abaco, Bahamas. They attended Sunland for the past 2 years and helped Sunland to secure back to back consecutive High School Championships. Senior Guard Kaleel Solomon signed his letter of intent today to attend Eastern Florida State College. In the recent Bahamas Development Soccer League’s Knock Out Cups, Domino’s sponsored Manta Rays Soccer Club dominated the competition. Overall, the group won titles in three divisions and made it to the semi final rounds in another two divisions.
Manta Rays players secured the title in the under 6 category, defeating the Pirates in a close 1-0 victory. The under 14 boys edged out Lyford Cay for the win and the club’s under 12 girls also won overall in their age division...

One of the world's deepest diving humans will arrive in The Bahamas on April 20th to attend the Vertical Blue in Dead Man's Cay for the 2016 Suunto Vertical Blue competition held at "The world's best freediving location," Dean's Blue Hole  in Long Island. 

Umberto Pelizzari has pushed the boundaries of human potential to shatter limits once thought fatal. With 17 world records to his credit, Pelizzari has held his breath for eight minutes, swam to a depth of 80 meters (263 feet) on a single breath, and rode a weighted sled to a lung-crushing 150 meters (492 feet) depth to defy the conventional wisdom of human physiology.

Twenty-something soccer supercoach Chloe Brown has packed more into her short sports life than most people do in an entire lifetime – and in the process has become an inspiring role model to young players making their way in the sport.

Her list of achievements is very lengthy with coaching experience ranging from working with 3-year-olds at one end of the scale to being head coach of a semi-professional adult men’s team at the other. In between are coaching roles at a pro soccer club’s centre of excellence and on the UK Girls’ Talent Pathway – an official programme aimed at producing England international players of the future.
