The four-day tournament gave the visiting athletes from Tennessee an opportunity to gain international exposure, creating lasting memories, and foster new relationships with many of the resident players...

Mark Mendelblatt & Brian Fatih (USA) have won the SSL Finals 2016 and a lion share of the $200,000 Prize Purse. In a dramatic final day, the American pair came with a whisker of being eliminated in the Semi Final and a highly competitive final race, saw three different teams take the lead in an epic display of sensational racing in the tactically challenging Montagu Bay, Nassau, Bahamas.
 
10 teams contested the SSL Finals 2016, in the Star Sailors League Knock-out format. The trade winds were back in the bay with 12 knots of breeze pumping up at times and shifting both left and right on the short race track...

Nassau, Bahamas - Light airs forced a delay to the start of the fourth and final day of the SSL Qualifying Rounds to select ten teams for the SSL Finals 2016, which take place tomorrow. Diego Negri & Sergio Lambertenghi (ITA) won the Qualifying Rounds, giving the Italians a bye to the SSL Grand Final. Mark Mendleblatt & Brian Fatih (USA) finished the Qualifying Rounds in second place, giving the Americans a bye into the Semi Final. Sailors from Brazil, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Northern Ireland and Poland, will be joining the top two in the SSL Finals. Live coverage will be freely available on the internet, from 1600 GMT on Saturday 3 December.

Qualifying in the Optimist Class we have Hugo Alnebeck who will enter the event ranked number 1 in the Bahamas and Jaheim Russell who qualified as a VIP. In the Laser Radial Class, Tai Moss and Michael Sanchez will be representing the GBSC, qualifying through their overall rankings for the year. The event itself is a compete by invitation only as it is also going to be attended by most of the top sailors in the world such as Robert Scheidt of Brazil and Diego Negri of Italy...

The stage is now set for the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl with Eastern Michigan accepting the bid to represent the Mid-American Conference in an historic match-up against Old Dominion University.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles will face Old Dominion Monarchs on Friday, December 23 at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium. This will be Eastern Michigan’s first time playing a bowl game since 1987.

Members of Old Dominion University’s (ODU) football team will have their passports stamped in The Bahamas next month when they arrive in Nassau to participate in the 2016 Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.

ODU accepted a bid to represent Conference USA at the December 23rd match-up.
This will be the Monarchs’ first time playing a bowl game in their school history. The Virginia team’s opponents have yet to be determined but will either come from the American Athletic Conference or the Mid-American Conference...

Nassau, The Bahamas - The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture held a press conference, Nov 16, 2016 to update the public on progress of the construction of the Andre Rodgers Baseball Stadium. Project Architect Mike Foster (center) said construction is ahead of schedule and should meet completion in the Summer of 2017.

The Hon. Daniel Johnson, Minster of Youth, Sports and Culture, right, said they would be using a synthetic field instead of a grass field because when it rains a synthetic field can be dried more quickly and after a hour or two the game can still be played, whereas on a grass field it would probably have to be postponed to another day...
