GLASGOW-ANIM.gif
Coming off the heels of the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow Scotland, Chef de Mission Roy Colebrooke says he is excited about the future talent of Team Bahamas as this is a transitional period for athletics in The Bahamas.

“There is a changing of the guard with this new group representing The Bahamas. We still have our veterans who are the backbone, but many of them have retired. Right now out of this new group we are going to see some bright stars. For a good amount of these athletes, the Commonwealth Games was their first major international competition. Many of them are professional athletes and in university doing well,” said Mr Colebrooke.

Edukarting builds team spirit during government school summer camp programme - Aug 10, 2014 - 9:06:30 PM

sm_IMG_1290.jpeg
Nassau, Bahamas -The Edukarting Summer Camp Programme, now in its second year, finished on August 8th. This year there was a greater mix of ages and schools ranging from 8 years old to 18 years old and it was very rewarding to see the older students mentoring the younger ones. A good display of team spirit, one of the Edukarting objectives. A good showing of girls of varying ages may have added an extra edge to the competition.

This year, the students were lucky enough to be driving on a track of reasonable length as the running track at C.I. Gibson was put to four-wheel use instead of feet. In fact, Mr. Tim Munnings, the Director of Sports for the Ministry of Youth Sports & Culture tested out his four wheel ability instead of his famous feet! With cones in place to form chicanes, the drivers had to navigate their way around the track with time penalties if they nudged or hit any one of them or incurred any other infractions....

small_53.gif
Brunnen (Switzerland) - Another roller-coaster day was added to the 2014 International Star Class Eastern Hemisphere Championship today, Race Day 3, with a 3 hour onshore postponement this morning followed by a relatively stable northerly afternoon breeze. Happily, however, competitors were able to continue the battle for the prestigious Silver Star Championship title at 3.20 pm when Race 4 finally got underway.

At the start, a majority of the Star fleet seemed to favour the Race Committee boat end of the starting line but quickly discovered the left side of the course was the best option when the major left phase wind shift reached the bottom part of the Race Course. Emilios Papathanasiou and Antonis Tsotras (GRE 8434), who proved themselves pin-end start specialists in the 2014 International Star Class World Championship this past July, were of course there at the pin ready and waiting to take advantage of the first shift of the race...
