Grand Bahama’s First Dog Days Half Marathon Run is gaining huge momentum, and is pleased to announce that event will now be called the “Dog Days Half Marathon in Memory of Sir Jack Hayward”, due to generous sponsorship form the St. George and Hayward families.

“We all know of Sir Jack’s years of support to the Grand Bahama Humane Society,” said Nikki Waugh, co-event Chairman. “With this donation we will now be able to give a cash prizes for the winners of the female and male half marathon.”

Race organizers, Siobhan Antoni-Bates and Nikki Waugh approached the family in hopes of making this an event to continue celebrating Sir Jack Hayward as a humanitarian, business entrepreneur and family man...

GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman – The second annual Under 15 Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup will take place Tuesday May 5 – Sunday May 10 2015 and will feature eight local and international football teams.

The upcoming tournament will host: Ipswich Town FC (United Kingdom), IMG Academy (Florida), Chicago Fire (Chicago), St George’s College (Jamaica), and FC Motagua (Honduras). The world's fastest man can hardly wait to set foot in The Bahamas as he gears up for double delight at the 2015 IAAF World Relays.

Usain Bolt, who was christened with his 'Lightning Bolt' nickname by the Bahamians during the 2002 Carifta Games in New Providence, where he won the Under – 18 boys 200m in 21.12 and the 400m in 47.33, will return to The Bahamas for the first time since the 2005 Central America and Caribbean Games.

Back then Bolt also stood atop the medal podium, after winning the 200m in 20.03...

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Hundreds of Bahamians turned out at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium on Friday night for the kickoff to the Bahamas National High School Relays 2015 – the Test Event leading up to the IAAF/BTC World Relays Bahamas 2015.

Bringing brief remarks at the opening ceremony was the Hon. Dr. Bernard J. Nottage, Minister of National Security, who was a long time president of the Bahamas Amateur Athletics Association (BAAA).

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson said: “we have called this press conference to say that the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture and by extension the government is giving Chris Brown and the Chris Brown Invitational its full support.”

PORT LUCAYA, Grand Bahama Island –  The Extreme Kayak Fishing Tournament series will be heading to The Bahamas for its second annual Battle in The Bahamas.  This two-day kayak fishing tournament, scheduled to take place April 23rd-26th, 2015 will lure in anglers and their families from all over the world.   Grand Bahama Island will play host to this group of skilled and courageous fishermen as they battle each other and Mother Nature for a chance to win over $30,000.00 USD in cash and prizes with a 1st place prize of $10,000.00 USD.

It was an exciting and successful competition for The Bahamas swimming team as they finished in the lead spot for team points at the 44th annual Carifta swimming championships held at the Barbados Aquatics Center from April 4-8th.  As for medals The Bahamas collected 54 in total with an outstanding 29 gold, 17 silver, and 8 bronze.

Setting a new age group (15-17) record and senior national record in the 400m for The Bahamas, Joanna Evans came out on top with 4:59.25. Evans has automatically qualified for the Pan Am Games...

The world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, will compete at the IAAF / BTC World Relays, Bahamas 2015, the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) announced on Tuesday (7).

The second edition of this innovative and exciting competition takes place in Nassau, The Bahamas, on the weekend of 2-3 May.

The JAAA met on Tuesday to decide the national team for the competition and selected the multiple world and Olympic champion, and world record holder, to compete on both days in Nassau.

The Bahamas Olympic Committee announces that three Bahamian wrestlers from The Bahamas Wrestling Federation have left The Bahamas to attend a special high level training course at the United States Olympic Committee’s High LevelTraining Centre in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The wrestlers are Demitri Jones, Rashji Mackey and Jason Rolle.
