Bahamas Bowl Youth Football Clinic set for Wednesday, Dec. 20 at Old Thomas Robinson Stadium

One of the highly anticipated events of Bahamas Bowl week is set for
Wednesday, Dec. 20 as the fourth-annual Bahamas Bowl Youth Football
Clinic will take place from 3:30-5:00 pm at the old Thomas Robinson
Stadium (adjacent to the National Stadium) in Nassau. The clinic is free
and open to boys and girls ages 7-13, and it is held in cooperation
between the Bahamas Bowl and USA Football.
A USA Football coach along
with student-athletes and staff from the UAB and Ohio football teams,
along with representatives of the Commonwealth American Football League
(CAFL), will run the clinic, teaching football fundamentals and safety

With racing taking place in a balmy, near perfect 15 knots on Nassau’s
Montagu Bay, the ‘take no prisoners’ shoot out on the last day of the
Star Sailors League Final saw the fleet narrow to seven teams after the
Quarter Finals and to four after the Semis. Finally this left the finals
being contested by France’s Xavier Rohart/Pierre-Alexis Ponsot,
Britain’s Paul Goodison sailing with German Frithjof Kleen, Brazil’s
Robert Scheidt/Henry Boening and the USA’s Mark Mendelblatt/Brian Fatih,
the latter crew having ‘fast tracked’ straight through after decisively
winning the qualifiers yesterday.
In the final race,
Mendelblatt/Fatih led off the line and all the boats heading out to the
left. Goodison/Kleen benefitted on the right and coming into the weather
mark just squeaked in ahead of the Americans...

Women's Rugby Introduced in Grand Bahama

This Saturday December 2 Nassau ladies will be coming to Freeport to show case Rugby to girls and
ladies interested in playing the sport. ALL interested girls/ ladies
should be at The Club for 2pm for coaching sessions. This will be
followed at 4pm by an Inter Men's squad game and then the girls/ladies
will play from 5pm-6pm. Should be a fun day so please come out to

UAB will represent Conference USA and Ohio
will represent the Mid-American Conference as both institutions
accepted bids to the 2017 Bahamas Bowl, set for Friday, Dec. 22 in
Nassau’s Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.
The Bahamas Bowl
will be played at 12:30 p.m. ET, and the contest will be televised on
ESPN and broadcast on the Bahamas Bowl Radio Network.

Goombay Splash Bowl 2017

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association is hosting its annual Goombay Splash
Bowl ITF Tournament. The Qualifying round was held this past weekend
and the Main Draw (32-Draw) begins TOMORROW and runs through Saturday,
November 25. Matches start at 9:00 a.m. daily at the National Tennis
Centre, Q. E. Sports Centre.

It is with regret and deep sadness that The Bahamas Olympic Committee
announces the death of Sir Arlington Butler, former President of The
Bahamas Olympic Association and one of the heroes of the Olympic
Movement in The Bahamas and around the world. Sir Arlington passed away
in hospital in Nassau, capital city of The Bahamas, on 9th November,
2017 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, and four grown
Sir Arlington led The Bahamas Olympic Committee from 1972 – 2008 and led the country to eight Olympic Games during that time...
Fantastic Four off to Mexico City

The year was 2013, when gold was won for The Bahamas by the Fantastic
Four: Donte Armbrister, Jacobi Bain, Sydney Clarke and Elana Mackey at
the “Inaugural ITF/GSDF 12U Team Championship” for the English-Speaking
Caribbean in Jamaica. Now four years later, the Fantastic Four have
come together one more time to represent their country at the Compass
North American IC 16 and Under Junior Challenge in Mexico City. The
3-day tournament will be held at Club Raquetas Bosques. Our IC Bahamas
Junior Team will play in a round-robin format in singles and doubles
events each day against two teams from Mexico and one from the United
States. It is expected to be a very competitive tournament.

The Grand Bahama BTC Blazers came prepared for a showdown on the softball
field, blazing their way to a Silver place finish in The Bahamas
Softball Federation Rozina National Round Robin & Championships at
the Balliou Hills Sporting Field. The team travelled to New Providence
from Grand Bahama Island last weekend to participate in the annual event
along with Quinton Rolle of BTC's Street Squad who served as the team's
starting first baseman. Continuing its longstanding tradition of
supporting Bahamian athletes, BTC was a proud sponsor of this year's

Elite Athlete Subvention Panel Announced

Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Michael Pintard in a
press conference, Monday, October 30, 2017 thanked those who have helped
to develop the Elite Athlete Subvention Programme on behalf of the
Ministry. He also saluted those who have benefited from it over the
