Freeport Rugby Football Club: Registration for Boys’ Soccer Programme Saturday October 7th and 14th - Oct 4, 2017 - 5:50:24 PM

The hugely successful Freeport Rugby Football Club grass-roots soccer programme kicks off again this Saturday at 11.30am at the Freeport Rugby Football Club with registration of boys running from 11am to Midday (with practice starting at 11.30). Registration will also be held on Saturday 14th at the same time.

The Club’s Soccer Programmes focus primarily on young boys and young men on the island. The Saturday grass-roots programme traditionally focuses on primary school age boys aged 7 to 11 but has been extended to include 12-year-old this year. Going forward, it is hoped that next season (2018-19)...

In February 2007 the International Tennis Federation officially launched a global campaign aimed at increasing tennis participation worldwide. The Tennis Play and Stay campaign aims to promote tennis as easy, fun and healthy, and to ensure all starter players are able to serve, rally and score from their first lesson. Fundamental to the campaign is the use of slower balls by coaches working with starter players, ensuring that their first experience of tennis is a positive one, where players are able play the game.
Bimini Sands Resort & Marina to Host Inaugural Wahoo Tournament October 19-21, 2017 - Sep 29, 2017 - 9:28:22 AM

South Bimini, The Bahamas – September 27, 2017 – Bimini Sands Resort and Marina today announced dates for their upcoming Wahoo Tournament. Slated for October 19-21, the event will be hosted by Charter Boat Captain Chase Camacho, and is the first of its kind to take place at the resort.
Because of their raw speed, hard fight, and ability to pull drag, Wahoo are a favorite among fishermen and are plentiful in the waters surrounding Bimini. More than 100 anglers are expected to make the journey to South Bimini and will be some of the first to use Bimini Sands’ brand new amenities, including a beachside infinity pool and their new Oceanfront Pavilion Bar and Grill.

As we near the end of the Sands Beer Cup Championship series, Bahamian Brewery and Beverage Company recently presented the Bahamas Golf Federation with the new Sterling Silver trophies which have been specially designed for the event.

The winner will receive a replica of the Floating Trophy and trophies will also be presented to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers along with other prizes including a 2-night stay at the Hope Town Harbour Lodge and 2 round trip tickets on Sky Bahamas. Additionally, winners and runner ups in each division will also receive trophies.

Mark Knowles was authorized by Mr. Christopher Anand of Albany to create a Bahamian Elite junior tennis program to be an adjunct to the Albany Tennis Academy. The Albany Tennis Academy for fulltime students opened in September 2017and is powered by Lleyton Hewitt with Grant Doyle as Director of Tennis. Albany has already accepted two former recipients of the Mark Knowles Invitational Tennis Scholarships, Jacobi Bain and Sydney Clarke, as fulltime students of the Albany Tennis Academy.

The Bahamas Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) is pleased to once again welcome Richard McAfee from the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) to The Bahamas to achieve its goal of promoting the sport, specifically in the high schools in New Providence, with the intent of expanding to other islands throughout The Bahamas.

The BTTF will be hosting various courses over the next two weeks, including the ITTF Level 1 Coaching Course, a Club Coaching Course and a Basic Umpiring Course.  During this time, McAfee will also be visiting the first phase of high schools (Government and Private Schools)...

Some of the finest young athletes from across the globe tonight (23 July) brought the flag down on six unforgettable days of great sporting achievements and new Commonwealth friendships forged on the small island state of The Bahamas as the Commonwealth Youth Games came to an emotional end.

Over 1000 young people mostly aged 14-18 from 63 nations and territories participated in an energetic Junkanoo carnival spectacular which formally ended what Commonwealth Games Federation President Louise Martin CBE has already billed “a turning point in the island’s incredible sporting history”

Nassau, Bahamas - With the first three days of competition concluded, the Bahamas 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, which close this Sunday 23 July, reach their half-way point. All nine sports are underway, across two sporting complexes, including the Youth Games’ first ever presentations of Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Judo and Women’s Boxing. Over 1,000 athletes are competing from 63 countries, many experiencing their first taste of international multi-sport competition.Medals have so far been awarded in Athletics, Aquatics, Cycling (Road) and Judo, with England, New Zealand and Scotland leading the medal tally. Trinidad and Tobago have won their first ever Commonwealth Youth Games gold medal, thanks to Adell Colthrust’s 100m Men’s Final win, as have Bermuda, with Matthew Oliviera winning the Time Trial on the beautiful and baking-hot roads of New Providence.

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association wishes to announce its tennis athletes for the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Games to be held July 18 – 23, 2017.
