The European Tour today announces plans for the resumption of the 2020 season with the launch of a new six-week ‘UK Swing’ as well as the confirmation of new dates for four Rolex Series events.

Like the rest of the world, University of The Bahamas (UB) Mingoes student-athletes have had to balance disappointment with distancing in this COVID-19 environment, withdrawing from the very interactions that have been pivotal to their growth and success.

To stay conditioned, home life has been infused with the routines they used to do on the field, at the track and at the gym. The COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing protocols to curb the spread of the disease have led to the suspension of local sporting events and the closure of sporting venues and facilities.

Two student-athletes who participated in last year’s Bahamas Bowl joined one other from 2018 as they were selected during the 2020 NFL Draft, held in a virtual format April 23-25.

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis is encouraging its athletes to stay ready duringthis global crisis.

We believe if our athletes continue to practise the drills, shadow their moves and condition their bodies they will come out stronger and ready to meet the challenges ahead.

Team Delta dominated and held on to beat Team Bravo during the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s 2nd Annual Commodore’s Bowl Flag Football Tournament on Friday past at the T.A. Robinson Stadium.

The Grand Bahama Tennis Association(GBTA) Junior National Tournament was held this weekend in Freeport, Grand Bahama at the YMCA. The event sponsor was Bahamas Pure Water & Ice.

Justin Roberts is making his presence felt on the ITF World Tennis Tour Circuit. This week Justin teamed up with Antiguan Jody Magilney for doubles at the M15 in Cancun Mexico. The dynamic duo has already had a successful combination last year as doubles champions on the procircuit.

Abigail Simms from The Bahamas is playing as the #1 flight singles for her team Indiana Tech. In this position she faces the #1 ranked girls on the opposing teams On Saturday Feb 15th the Warriors took on the No. 23-ranked Cumberland University. Abigail lost in #1 singles 3-6,1-6 against Garrida. The second flight doubles of Abigail and partner Fabbrice was victorious 6-3. .l This win by Abigail and the Warriors was key to the upset win over Cumberland.

The Bahamas recorded a good win today at the Junior Fed Cup in El Salvador. The team consists of Peyton Anderson, Kinza Johnson and Kaylee Kanuka. The Team is coached by Chelsi Russell.

Participating in the M15 at the Cancun Tennis Academy in Cancun, Mexico is Bahamian Justin Roberts.

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) "Play Tennis" program is reporting a steady stream of young children between the ages of 4 and 16o n Saturdays at its free tennis clinics.

The Bahamas will be participating in the Junior Fed Cup in El Salvador starting Sunday, February 9th 2020. Representing The Bahamas is a 3 member team of Peyton Anderson, Kinza Johnson and Kaylee Kanuka. The Team is coached by Chelsi Russell. Coach Chelsi was recently certified as an ITF Level 2 Coach in Valencia, Spain.

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association(BLTA) is raising up the next generation of tennis players by providing a pathway for new beginners into tennis.

A number of Bahamians are participating in the  tennis college arena with their respective colleges and university.
