For the first time in its history, the Exuma Marathon was able to announce the two sweetest words for any event in The Bahamas: sold out.

Nearly 250 runners from as far away as Holland and Ireland packed the starting line last Saturday in Exuma, all united in a race that has become a highly anticipated staple in the Bahamian tourism calendar. The 242 Colour Run graced the streets of Nassau for the sixth consecutive year on Sunday. The event attracted over 300 participants and scores of volunteers, all which ended up covered in sweat and colour. The event benefited the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of East Nassau.

The overall theme was tied to Rotary International’s theme, “Be The Inspiration”. This year is especially memorable, because Bahamian Barry Rassin is currently the President of the Rotary International organization...

The 2018 Star World Champions, Brazilians Jorge Zarif and Guilherme de Almeida, will attend the SSL Finals 2018 from December 3 – 8 in Nassau, Bahamas. It’s tradition, and one of the SSL Finals rules of admission, that the current year Star World Champions are invited to join the top ten skippers of the ranking and the VIPs at the SSL Finals in Nassau, Bahamas, and this year the Star Sailors League is very happy to welcome Olympic Finn sailor, and former Finn World Champion, Jorge Zarif with his crew and long time Star sailor, Guilherme de Almeida.

Jorge Zarif attended the SSL Finals in three different occasions. The first time was in 2014, invited as a very young Finn World Champion, both junior and senior, then again in 2015 for his Finn sailing achievements...

On a brisk Saturday morning in September, the team at Spectrum Health Center (off Rosetta Street) hosted its first Annual Back-To-School Walkathon. “We had a good turnout,” shared Dr. Juanita Pratt, Operations Manager. “Some of the top runners and power walkers in the country participated in the event, along with the physicians who practice at Spectrum Health and other people who just wanted to have some fun and support a good cause.” Participants walked or ran almost 4 miles (6km) from Spectrum Health Center to Montagu Beach and back. Some of the proceeds from the event were donated to the Children’s Emergency Hostel...

The UB Mingoes soccer team—thanks to some great defense—defeated the Warriors 2-1 to remain Sunday undefeated in the Bahamas Football Association preseason.

The MINGOES scored twice in the match at the Roscow A.L. Davies Field—once from Elcott Johnson in the 35th minute and an own goal in the 70th minute.

The UB Mingoes strolls through Bay Street as the teams participated with the rest of the nation as National Youth Month kicked off with a full march through the nation’s capital on Sunday October 7, 2018.

Many of the administrators joined the athletes including Athletics Director Kim Rolle who was proud of the teams.

“At UB we consistently celebrate our student-athletes and this is just another way to show them off to the community,” she said...

They’re young and talented and the Star Sailors League Finals 2018 will be their first time racing a Star boat and racing one against the other. Ondrej Teply (CZE) and Guido Gallinaro (ITA) both freshly crowned Junior World Champions 2018 in the Finn and Laser Radial class respectively.

Both started sailing very young and both went racing in Optimist national regattas as soon as they turned eight. Sailing, for both of them, was a passion written in their DNA. Before they were able to be at the helm themselves, they would go and watch regattas from the RIBs.

Ready, Set, Go! Come November 3rd the sound of the starting pistol will signal another exciting GBPA Conchman Triathlon, which returns to the beautiful Taino Beach on Grand Bahama Island. Since 1986, the event has provided an environment of friendly competition for both residents and visitors while encouraging physical health activity.

Over the years, the event which has grown in popularity has attracted some of the world’s preeminent triathletes. None more famous than Hector Picard. Picard, 52, exemplifies courage and strength in the face of adversity and his story continues to inspire new generations of triathletes. In 1992, Picard, lost his entire right arm and half of his left because of an accident while working as an electrician.

The UB Mingoes men’s soccer team opened the season with a 0-0 draw against Penn State Altoona and then a 3-0 loss to Mount Aloysius College.

The Mingoes ended in a 0-0 tie against Penn State Altoona Thursday in Altoona, Pennsylvania and then lost 3-0 against Mount Aloysius College Saturday in Cresson, Pennsylvania.

BreAnn Ferguson  was a double crown winner as she outshined everyone else in two Florida based tournaments.  The tournaments were both USTA certified tournaments where highly competitive tennis athletes around the United States and other countries participate.

The first tournament held the weekend of August 11th was "Lake Cane Summer Challenge Level 6" where BreAnn participated in the Girls 10s Green Dot Level 1.  The format of play was round robin and the pool consisted of four girls.  BreAnn proved her skill and dominance by going undefeated in tournament play!

Continuing on to the second tournament "Friends of Miami Tennis Level 6" BreAnn once again had the opportunity to display her tennis abilities...

Justin Smith hit seven three-pointers to lead the UB Mingoes with 27 points in the loss to The Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks 92-82 in Summer of Thunder action on Sunday August 19, 2018 at The Kendal Issacs gym.

The Mingoes got within single digits of the division one school twice in the fourth quarter but just ran out of time. Smith said that despite the loss the team looks good for the regular season.

“The Lumberjacks play systematic basketball and we were able to get within single digits at one point,” he said. “The teams we will see this season aren’t any better than them so as long as we play as a team...

Shaunae Miller-Uibo of The Bahamas set a Meeting Record of 22.15 in the Women's 200m at the 2018 Müller Grand Prix Birmingham, UK.

Her time was 22.15. Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith came second with 22.31, and Netherland's Dane Schippers came third with 22.41 while Sherika Jackson of Jamaica took fourth with 22.55.
