continuing a stellar record in the Florida based arena. This time Kevin
would be succesful in Miami Beach $1,500 USTA/UTR at the Flamingo Park

winning a Florida based USTA Broward Summer Men's Open held in Coral
Springs. Kevin faced the winner of the U18 ITF Easter Bowl tournament in
the finals. Kevin was victorius over Ronald Hohmann 4-2 4-1(shorter
sets due to constraints).
Kevin continues to perform well on the
local Florida based USTA Opens tournaments with an impressive winning
record reflected in tournament play...
Jenna Bayles leads Sands Beer Cup

Bahamas Golf Federation’s President Lynford announced that the race for
the 2019 Sands Beer Cup is in full swing. After 6 rounds, the current
leader is Jenna Bayles with a total of 151 points representing her best 4
rounds. Jenna also just recently won the Ladies National Amateur
Championship and is a member of the National Team. Jenna has a 5 point
lead over Nyah Singh in second place at 146. Heathcliff Kane is third
with 145 followed by Mark Carter in 4th with 142, Nadario Ferguson is
5th at 140 and Victor Skinner rounds out the 6th spot with 139...

It was a thriller of a match as the Girls #1 seed in The Bahamas Lawn
Tennis Association(BLTA) TF Junkanoo Bowl played amid a throng of
supporters at The National Tennis Centre.
Sydney Clarke saw
action for the first time in singles after receiving a first round bye
due to her seeding position. Fans and friends came out to see the #1
ranked Bahamian junior in action and they witnessed a show of talent and
finesse. Mary Jean Brumfield from the USA fought a set down 5-7 to tie
it in the second 6-3 and force a third set where Sydney
would raise the ante remaining focused and composed as she closed out

Bahamas Falls to Puerto Rico in Davis Cup

Today was an important day as it was necessary for the Bahamas to secure
a second spot in Pool A. This would qualify them to contend for a 3rd
spot on Saturday.
In order to do so Team Bahamas would need to
either win both of its singles or at a minimum one of its singles in
order to take it to doubles.

The University of The Bahamas Mingoes women’s softball team dropped to
2-3 after a loss at the hands of the Lady Warriors 11-1 in NPSA action
Tuesday night at The Bankers Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting
Brendia Ferguson picked up the win for the Warriors and Charity Rolle picked up the loss for the Mingoes.

After securing the win over Antigua on Monday The Bahamas faced the host country Costa Rica today after yesterday's day off.
In singles Philip went up early but lost 4-6, 2-6 to Sebastian Quiros. Baker lost in a tough tiebreak 6-3, 3-6, 2-6 to Jesse Flores Knowles.
Marvin Rolle would go with the doubles lineup of Justin Lunn and Donte

Day 1 of Davis Cup action kicked off today. Bahamian Philip Major met
Shakir Elvin from Antigua. This one would be the 2nd time they match up
in Davis Cup action. The first time was in 2018 where Phillip won in 2
sets 6-4, 6-3. This time it would be much improved with Philip allowing

Able Seaman Gharvis Sturrup proved to be the best all around athlete, as
he captured the prestigious Ironman Triathlon competition at the Royal
Bahamas Defence Force’s Annual Ironman Triathlon competition on May

other competitors in a grueling and fierce competition with an overall

UB Mingoes fall to 1-2 with loss to defending NPSA champs Wildcats

The University of The Bahamas Mingoes women’s softball team lost to the
NPSA defending champion Wildcats 20-4 Tuesday night at The Bankers
Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.
The Mingoes trailed
the Wildcats 8-4 going into the 5th inning. In the 5th, the Wildcats
batted around the order scoring 12 runs to go up 20-4. The Mingoes were

The Bahamas Judo Federation held it's national championship at Holy
Family Parish Activity Center this past weekend. Forty eight athletes
ages 6 to 25 participated. As expected Olympic hopeful Cynthia Rahming
won the senior females middleweight division. Also US Open winner Xavion
Johnson continued his dominance repeating as national champion for the
lightweight division ages 12 to 14.
However, there were some
surprises. Men's senior middleweight division was won by Alex Strachan
age 16 with his twin brother Daniel taking the runner up position...

After a spectacular winning performance on the CARIFTA 2019
international stage, swimmers are diving headfirst into the Bahamas
Aquatic Federation’s 48th National Swimming Championships this June.
Thompson, Assistant Treasurer of the Bahamas Aquatics Federation, said
spectators can look forward to “a wonderful and exciting time, with new

BLTA Play Tennis Program gets a visit from Brajaxba Tennis Club

its "Play Tennis" Program. The sessions are fun and interactive and
provides a pathway for new beginners in the sport.
Brajaxaba Club joined in the training as some tennis juniors(including
Jacobi Bain, BreAnn Ferguson, Brianna Houlgrave, Virgil

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture held an opening ceremony for
the 35th annual Frank "Pancho" Rahming Primary School Track and Field
Championships, May 22, 2019 at the Thomas A. Robinson Sports Centre.
Athletes from over 60 primary schools throughout the country
participated in a March-Past and were welcomed by the Ministry's
Director of Sports, Tim Munnings, who acknowledged that "this is the
largest number of participating schools." Some schools were first time
