RBPF: Police investigates vessel destroyed by fire - Shooting incidents in New Providence and Eleuthera

POLICE INVESTIGATES VESSEL DESTROYED BY FIRE

Police and the Fire Department on the island of Harbor Island Eleuthera are investigating the circumstance surrounding a fire that caused damage to a motor vessel on Saturday 27th June 2020. 

According to reports, sometime around 12:35pm, a 66 feet fiberglass sunseeker motor vessel called Vanish was dock at the Valentine Resort and Marine was engulfed in flames. Officers responded and tried to extinguish the flame but to no avail. The vessel had a party of five on board, however, no one sustained any injuries.

Investigation into this matter continues.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENTS

Police on the island of New Providence and Eleuthera are investigating two shooting incidents that occurred on Saturday 27th June 2020.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, police received an alert of gun shots being fire in the area of Comfort and Hay Street. Officers on mobile patrol responded, on arrival they conducted an examination of the area and recovered several fired cartridges on the scene. It was reported that a silver Nissan Cube sustained damages and left prior to the police arrival.

Acting on information officers went to Rupert Dean Lane where they located the silver Nissan in question with gunshot damages. A female who identified herself as the driver, was subsequently arrested and is assisting the police with the investigation. No one was injured during this incident.

In the second incident, according to reports shortly before 10:00pm, the police at Governor Harbor, Eleuthera receive information of a shooting at Baby Johnson Lane, Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera. Officers arrived at the scene a short time later and discovered a two-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower abdomen.

Initial reports are that a female was sitting on the porch of her residence holding her grandchild, when a vehicle approached the residence and three men exited. One of the males, after making a comment produced a handgun and discharged it in her direction and left. Moments later she discovered that her grand daughter was shot. The victim was air lifted to New Providence, where she is listed in critical condition.
