RBPF Nassau: Dangerous drugs recovered - Illegal firearms recovered

DANGEROUS DRUGS RECOVERED – ONE ADULT MALE IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - Police have recovered a quantity of dangerous drugs from the streets of New Providence and have taken an adult male into custody Thursday, 2nd April, 2020. 

According to reports, shortly after 2:00pm, Special Operations Officers assisted by K-9 Rexo, acting on information went to Tyler Street, Chippingham, where they saw a male standing near an abandon building. The male upon seeing the officers began acting in a suspicious manner. Officers conducted a search of the building and recovered a plastic bag containing two hundred and thirty nine (239) foil wrappings with suspected marijuana.

The male was taken into custody in connection with this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

ILLEGAL FIREARMS RECOVERED - ONE ADULT MALE IN
CUSTODY

The enduring and dedicated work of the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, has led to illegal firearms and ammunition being recovered in two incidents, from the streets of New Providence.

In the first incident, according to reports, shortly before 1:00pm, Thursday 2nd April, 2020, South Eastern Division Officers acting on information conducted a search of the shore line at South Beach and recovered from under a discarded mattress a 9 millimeter pistol which contained four (4) rounds of ammunition.

No arrest was made in this incident. Investigations are ongoing.

In the second incident, according to reports, shortly after 8:00pm, SWAT Officers were on patrol on Rupert Dean Lane off Poinciana Avenue, when they observed a male standing next to a truck. The male upon seeing the officers began acting in a suspicious manner. Officers conducted a search of the male and his truck and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol and eleven (11) rounds of ammunition.

The man was taken into custody and is expected to be formally charged before a Magistrate Court next week.
