Police in New Providence are investigating a traffic accident which has left an adult male dead, Friday, 27th July, 2018

According to reports, shortly after 9:00am, a three car collision occurred on Western Road south of Mount Pleasant Village. An adult male, the driver of the white Mazda vehicle, received serious injuries. He was treated by medical personnel on scene...

Reports are that on Monday 23rd July 2018 shortly after 10:00am, two culprits entered a business establishment in the Port Lucaya area, where they smashed and grabbed a quantity of jewelry value unknown. Both persons are described as being dressed in female attire at the time the incident occurred. 

Police in Grand Bahama are aggressively investigating this matter and are appealing to the general public for any assistance to call the Central Detective Unit at telephone # 350-3107 thru 12, 911/919 or call your nearest police station...

Reports are that on Friday 20th July 2018 shortly after 3:00pm, police were called to a marina in West End, where there was an incident involving an American owned vessel and a group of American visitors that were reportedly diving in the area. One of the male visitor received serious injuries where his left arm was severed. He was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital and is listed in serious condition.

Police are actively investigating this matter...

3 in custody for armed robbery, 15 arrested in 8 hrs - Jul 19, 2018 - 2:44:55 PM

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, three armed men entered upon the property of the Learning Resources Unit, Mackey Street, held the security officer and another man at bay and robbed the officer of a cell phone and a set of keys, before tying him up. Officers of the Operational Unit “Steady the Land” and Mobile Division Officers, responded to this location and after a short chase, captured the three suspects and recovered a 9 millimeter pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and the stolen property.

A total of 70 cadets from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Rangers are on the island of Grand Bahama attending the 3rd Annual Rangers Leadership Summer Camp at St. George’s High School, Freeport.

The Leadership Camp is being conducted by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Rangers Department, with auxiliary personnel from other departments including the Medical Center, Public Relations, and Commando Squadron.

Police have officially identified the juvenile male who was shot and killed on Friday, 13th july, 2018 at Baillou Hill road as Sean Augustin, age 17 years of Lightbourn avenue, rock crusher.
Industrial accident- 4 males injured

Police on the island of Eleuthera are investigating an industrial accident, which has left four men with injuries, Monday, 16th July, 2018.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, four men were removing palm trees from a container at a business establishment on Banks Road, Governors Harbour, Eleuthera, when one of the trees came in contact with a high voltage electrical line,

In the first incident, on Monday 16th July 2018, shortly after 2:00pm, Officers of the Rapid Response Unit, while in the area of Fawcett Lane, arrested a 23 year old male of Raleigh Drive, after he was found in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana.

In the second incident on the same date, shortly after 4:00pm, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit, acting on information and while in the area of the Casuarina Bridge, in bushes near the canal, discovered three taped packages of suspected marijuana. No arrest was made in this matter.

Joint operation apprehends 2 Haitian Sloops - Jul 15, 2018 - 7:08:38 PM

Coral Harbour Base, 15 JUL. ‘18 (RBDF): A joint maritime operation between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos Islands (OPBAT), and the United States Coast Guard early this morning resulted in the apprehension of two Haitian Sloops in the southern Bahamas with a combined total of 162 Haitian nationals on board.

The sloops were initially reported by the Defence Force Intelligence Section, in collaboration with The Bahamas Immigration Department, to OPBAT, which deployed a helicopter to search for them.

Confirmation of sightings were made by OPBAT

Police on the Island of New Providence are investigating a shooting incident, which has left one male dead and another with injuries.

According to reports, shortly after 2:00am, Friday, 13th July, 2018, a male was walking on the eastern side of the clinic on Baillou Hill Road, when he saw a male being chased by a group of men, who shot both him and the male before running away.  Emergency Medical Services Personnel were called to the scene and attempted to revive one of the injured victims, but were unsuccessful...

Reports are that on Saturday 7th July 2018 shortly after 1:00am, a traffic accident occurred on Queen Street, Sandy Point, Abaco, involving a gray 1998 Nissan Altima and a male pedestrian. The victim was transported to the Sandy Point Government Clinic via private vehicle where he was seen by doctor and later airlifted to New Providence for further medical attention.

On Thursday 12th July 2018, the victim succumbed to his injuries...

In the first incident a male and female were arrested by officers of the Lucaya Division after they were found in possession of items that were stolen from a Resort on Princess Isle. Reports are that on Wednesday 11th July 2018 shortly after 10:00am, police received a stealing report at a local resort. Officers later arrested the suspects who were found in possession of all items.

In the second incident on the same date, shortly after 12:00pm, Officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit, arrest a male after he was found in possession of a quantity of marijuana and cocaine...

On June 21, thousands of miracle workers flooded the five DQ locations across New Providence to celebrate DQ’s fifth annual Miracle Treat Day, raising $10,500 for hearing impaired children in The Bahamas.

On Miracle Treat Day, DQ donates $2 from every blizzard treat sold to support local children in need.

Since 2014, DQ’s Miracle Treat Day has raised more than $50,000, helping to create miracles for children with cancer, diabetes, Autism and Down Syndrome. This year, the initiative supports The Red Cross Centre for Deaf Children.
