Suspects in overnight armed robbery captured - Jul 5, 2017 - 7:36:31 PM

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Police took two male suspects responsible for an overnight armed robbery into custody following a high-speed chase on Wednesday 5th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, Southwestern Division officers were on routine mobile patrol, when they spotted two males on Fire Trail Road driving a Nissan Note vehicle, taken during an armed robbery on West Bay Street, near Sandy Port around 11:00pm last night. The officers signaled to the occupants of the vehicle to stop, but they refused and sped off a high rate of speed. Traffic accident victim dies in hospital - Jul 5, 2017 - 10:53:31 AM

Police from the Traffic Division are investigating a traffic accident that has left a man dead and another detained in hospital on Tuesday 4th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, a traffic collision occurred on New Providence Highway, South of Saunders Beach, involving a white Kia vehicle driven by a male driver accompanied a male passenger, and a 2001 Freight Liner flatbed truck driven by a male. During the collision the male passenger was ejected from the Kia vehicle into the street. The driver of the Kia vehicle and his male passenger were transported to hospital, where the passenger later succumbed. The driver remains in stable condition. The driver of the Freight Liner was not injured...

Police are asking the public to come forth with any information they may have in solving an overnight shooting that has left a man dead on Monday 3rd July 2017.

According to reports, shortly before 12:00 midnight, a man was standing near a home on Bimini Avenue, when a man armed with a handgun approached and shot him before fleeing on foot. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police can confirm that the victim was arrested for firearm possession in May 2017, and is on bail...

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers took a 25 – year old Corrections Officer from the Bahamas Department of Corrections into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs found in his possession on Monday 3rd July 2017.

According to reports, around 10:00pm, acting on information, Drug Enforcement Unit officers conducted a search of a Corrections Officer, who had just arrived for duty at the Department of Corrections, and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The officer was then taken into custody.

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, Police in Harbour Island, Bahamas took a man from London, England into custody following the seizure of a quantity of dangerous drugs found in his possession on Tuesday 4th July 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 1:00am, Officers assigned to the Harbour Island District were on routine patrol on that island, when they saw a man standing near a nightclub who aroused their suspicion. The officers conducted a search of the man and found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The man was then taken into custody and is expected to appear in court later this week to be formally charged...

Police in Eleuthera probe swimming death off Wemess Bight - Jul 3, 2017 - 2:32:19 PM


Police in Eleuthera, Bahmas are investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent drowning of a man that occurred on Sunday 2nd July 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 7:00am, a man was swimming in waters on a beach in Wemyss Bight, when he lost consciousness. The victim was taken to shore and transported to the local clinic, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigations are ongoing.

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, officers from Tourism Policing Unit took an American man from New Jersey into custody for possession of dangerous drugs on Saturday 1st July 2017.

Reports are that around 9:00am, officers from the Tourism Policing Unit, acting on information went onboard a cruise ship moored at Prince George Wharf, where they arrested the man after they found a quantity of marijuana in his possession. The suspect is expected to appear in court early this week to be formally charged...

Officers from the Police Traffic Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding a traffic accident that has left a child dead and a woman detained in hospital on Saturday 24th June 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 6:00pm, two vehicles, one a black Nissan Teana driven by a woman and the other, a dark gray Mazda vehicle driven by a male, collided with each other while traveling west on JFK Drive. The woman lost control of her vehicle an it overturned on the eastbound lane. As the vehicle overturned onto its roof her 2 – year old female passenger was fully ejected. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to hospital where she is detained in serious condition...
