1 woman dead after shooting in Grand Bahama, police ask for public's assistance - Apr 2, 2017 - 2:12:16 AM

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating a shooting incident that has left a female dead.

Reports are that on Saturday 1st April 2017, shortly after 9:00pm, police were called to a business establishment on Oakes Street where reports of gunshots were heard. Officers on arrival at the scene met the lifeless body of a female lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the body.

Police are actively investigating this matter and are appealing to the general public for anyone with any information that can assist with this investigation to call them...

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Police Plan for 2017, Police in Eleuthera seized a quantity of dangerous drugs on Thursday 30th March 2017.

Shortly after 12:30pm, police assigned to the Eleuthera District were on mobile patrol on Russell Island, when they saw a man standing on the side of the road with a bag on his shoulder acting suspiciously. The man on seeing the officers dropped the bag to the ground and fled on foot. The officers gave chase but were unable to catch the man. The bag was searched and two pounds of marijuana was found...

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating three men who are wanted for breaching the terms of their bail conditions issued by the Supreme Court.

The first suspect is 22 – year old Codero Smith of Halifax Street, Stapledon Gardens.

Smith is a dark brown male, slim build and about 5’ 10” tall.
The second suspect is 21 – year old Delano Taylor of St. Albans Drive.

Taylor is a dark brown male, slim build and about 5’ 10” tall.

The final suspect is 21 – year old Vilner Desir of St. Albans Drive...

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, police in Cat Island took a man into after they found him in possession of a quantity of dangerous drugs on Tuesday 28th March 2017.

According to reports, shortly before 7:00pm, officers in Cat Island were on mobile patrol in McQueens, when a Ford truck with one man aboard was intercepted.

The vehicle was searched and a quantity of cocaine and marijuana was found. The man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody...

Police in Grand Bahama are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday 28th March 2017.

Reports are that shortly before 12:00pm, a male armed with a handgun entered a business establishment in Russell Town, Eight Mile Rock and robbed the employee before making good his escape on foot.

A short time later police arrested a 22 year old male of Russell Town, Eight Mile Rock, who is assisting police with their investigation into this matter.

Bimini drug seizure suspects arraigned in Nassau - Mar 21, 2017 - 3:21:43 PM

Shelrey Swain age 42 years of Murphy Town, Abaco was arraigned before Magistrate Andrew Forbes in Magistrate Court #8 Nassau Street, New Providence on Possession of Dangerous Drugs with the intent to supply, he pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until trial on the 16th June 2017.

Police make two major drug seizures in Bimini - Mar 19, 2017 - 11:10:14 PM

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit along with U.S Law Enforcement Officers took three men in custody after they seized a large amount of dangerous drugs during two separate incidents in Bimini on Sunday 19th March 2017.

The first incident took place shortly after 8:00am, officers executed a search warrant at a residence on South Bimini where they discovered 191.5 lbs. of marijuana with a street value of over $191,000 (one hundred and ninety one thousand dollars). A 54 year old male resident of Bimini was taken into police custody...
