Police are asking members of the public to come forth with any information they may have to assist in solving a shooting incident that has left a man dead on Friday 12th May 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 12:30am, police received a report of gunshots being fired on Whitaker Avenue off Carmichael Road. When officers arrived in the area they met the lifeless body of an adult male in the driver’s seat of a Chevy vehicle, who had been shot. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene...

Police are appealing to members of the public to come forth with any information they have that can assist in solving a shooting incident that has left a man dead and another detained in serious condition on Saturday 6th May 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 9:00am, two adult males had just pulled up to a home located on Providence Avenue in a vehicle, when two males emerged from a vehicle and shot them. The vehicle sped off and the two suspects fled on foot. One of the males died on the scene and the other male was rushed to hospital where he remains in serious condition...

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, Police seized three illegal firearms and several rounds of ammunition during special operations conducted this weekend.

In the first incident, around 10:00pm on Friday 5th May 2017, a team of officers during a special operation conducted a search of a premises, on Bowe Avenue, Montel Heights, where they found an unlicensed 12 - guage shotgun. Six adult males were taken into custody in connection with this discovery...

Nassau, Bahamas - Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Priorities for 2017, vigilant officers from the Mobile Division shot and arrested a man armed with a handgun minutes after he committed an armed robbery on Saturday 29th April 2017.

Reports are that shortly after 10:00pm, Mobile Division officers were on routine Patrol on Fritz Lane when they heard the sound of gunshots and saw a man running. The officers pursued the man who produced a handgun. The officers in fear of their lives shot the man and recovered a Glock Pistol with 10 rounds of ammunition from him.

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) has struck another blow against organized drug trafficking in The Bahamas, this time with the seizure of a large amount of marijuana and the arrest of two persons on Wednesday 26th April 2017.

Reports are that shortly before 7:00am a team of officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit acting on intelligence went to a home located at Water Street, Big Pond, where they executed a search warrant and uncovered several large nylon bags containing 390 pounds of marijuana.

Two residents of the home, an adult Bahamian male and an adult Jamaican female, were taken into custody...

Suspect who shot at police shot and killed after highspeed chase - Apr 25, 2017 - 7:33:06 PM

Consistent with the Commissioner’s Policing Plan for 2017, courageous officers from the Mobile Division shot and killed an armed suspect, took two others into custody and recovered two illegal handguns following a car chase on Tuesday 25th April 2017.

According to reports, shortly after 12:00noon, officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol off Carmichael Road East, when they spotted a suspicious vehicle occupied by three men in the area. The officers ordered the vehicle to stop but the men drove off at a high rate of speed. The suspects then led the officers on a high speed chase into Pride Estates where their vehicle came to a stop after it crashed into a wall of a home...

Freeport, Bahamas - Police in Grand Bahama uncovers large marijuana field in the Chesapeake area.

Reports are that on Monday 17th April 2017 shortly before 8:00pm, Officers of the Fire Department were in the Chesapeake area extinguishing a large bush fire, when they discovered in bushes over 100 suspected marijuana plants ranging between seedlings to four feet in height. No arrest were made and Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit are investigating this matter...
