Nassau, Bahamas - Mode
Îles, Ltd., organizers of the award-winning event, Islands of the World
Fashion Week, is announcing the third edition of their spectacular
showcase of established and novice designers to the world's stage. The
event will take place on November 11th- 13th in
Nassau, Bahamas, exposing island-based designers to the international
media and prospective buyer markets. This year promises to be even more
beneficial to our potential designers as we've added a televised
special/series, which will focus on the designers and events surrounding
IWFW. The special will comprise of three segments, which will run
parallel to the main event:
· "In Search
of the Next Oscar"-
A runway presentation of
five designers selected from five island nations highlighting the themes
of eco-fashion, culture and fashion, and red/green carpet designs.
Judges will select the designer with the greatest potential for
following in the footsteps of the most internationally renowned designer
originating from a developing island nation, Oscar de la Renta, and
whose couture design will shine given the opportunity to walk the red
carpet of that most celebrated of social events, the Oscars of the
Academy Awards.
· Featured Designers Showcase -
This is the usual Islands of the World Fashion Week runway presentation
of the creations of those designers who are not participating in "In
Search of the Next Oscar". Excerpts from each designer's runway show
will be included in the Television Special.
· "Fashion Cares for
Haiti: The Relief
Benefit Fashion Show" - This one-night event will feature five
designers from Haiti showcasing their lines of clothing on the runway.
The objective is to draw focus to the continuing efforts at rebuilding
Haiti after the tragic earthquake of January, and to show to the world
that the vibrant fashion industry in Haiti can play a pivotal role in
this redevelopment through trade rather than the sole emphasis on aid.
As the 2010 Islands
of the World Fashion Tour from Palm Springs to Miami comes to an
end,
you are invited to join the wining team of noted designers in showcasing
your work at this year's coveted "Islands
of the World Fashion Week 2010". Have your designs share the catwalk with
such
notables as Kenneth Cole, Leanne Marshall, Kevan Hall, Nick Verreos,
Harl Taylor BAG, Eric Raisina, K. Bobby and many others in their display
of cultural diversity and creativity. In addition, as a designer you
are eligible for awards in three categories: NextGen Designer Award, the
Culture & Fashion Award and the Sustainable Eco-Fashion Award. The
deadline for application submission is August
31st, 2010.
