Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party, Bradley Roberts’ ongoing obsession with the internal affairs of the Free National Movement proves telling.  And his misleading attacks on Official Opposition Leader, Dr. Hubert Minnis, are even more revealing.  The governing PLP is failing the people of The Bahamas miserably.

Murders and violent crimes are at an all time high, record unemployment numbers continue to climb, the banks are repossessing the homes of Bahamians daily, the country is in a mess, and Roberts is busy focusing on the FNM.  The time and energy he spends offering unsolicited advice to the FNM should be drawn to his collapsing governing party.  Roberts would hope his barrage of press releases targeted at the FNM would deflect the continued missteps and shortcomings of this inept government, but the widespread suffering of Bahamians would not allow.

The FNM’s Leader, Dr. Hubert Minnis, brings a refreshing brand of honesty to frontline politics - and his journey from poverty to a successful physician and businessman serves as an inspiration particularly to young Bahamians.  Roberts’ misleading attacks on Minnis is a revealing admission of him and the PLP wanting a weaker opponent in the 2017 General Elections.  Minnis remains focused on the work of the FNM and creating change for a new and better Bahamas.  Dr. Minnis has my full support.  As for my decision not to run for Chairman of the FNM, Roberts does not speak for me or the FNM.  I wish to pursue the candidacy for the Garden Hills Constituency and give the fine people of that area my undivided attention.

Roberts boasts about being able to be the Member of Parliament for Bains and Grants Town and Chairman of the PLP at the same time.  What Roberts fails to note, he remains one of the worse members of parliament in Bahamian history.  One just needs to look at the state of those communities during the time of Roberts’ representation.

Mr. Roberts also stated that I should be in the Guinness Book of Records for serving in the post of Acting Chairman. What Mr. Roberts failed to announce is that he already qualifies for the Guinness Book as he has been the longest serving Backbencher in the history of Bahamian politics. He was a backbencher for nearly two decades. I am sure the former Prime Minister, The Rt. Honourable Sir Lynden Pindling had good reason not to invite him to serve at a higher level.

Secondly, Mr. Roberts should come clean and fully explain to the Bahamian people the circumstances surrounding the alleged rape and sexual misconduct where it was reported publically that he was the only suspect in the matter. I am not aware that this matter has been closed by the police so I make no further comment or observation at the moment.

Thirdly, the PLP’s association with Toogie and Bobo is well known in Bahamaland and Mr. Roberts and the PLP should explain the thousands paid to them by the government and the large acreage of public land granted to them by the government.
