Nassau, Bahamas - Amongst thunderous applause from a crowd of some four hundred people, FNM Party Leader, the Hon. Dr. Hubert A. Minnis, publicly introduced Frankie Campbell and Donald “Don” Saunders as the FNM candidates who will represent Southern Shores and Tall Pines Constituencies in the next General Election. The event fashioned like a mini rally and marked the official launch of the FNM Election Campaign, as Dr. Minnis called for the return of transparency and good governance, while FNM Deputy Leader Peter Turnquest led the charge for the Party to stay focused. The combined Southern Shores and Tall Pines Constituencies monthly meeting was held at Garvin Tynes Primary School on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.

Whether crime, the economy, high unemployment, or corruption, Minnis said he has heard the cries of Bahamians everywhere lamenting that ‘something has got to change.’ Minnis pledged that the FNM will treat crime as a priority and with urgency. “We will work to eliminate the places where criminality flourishes and increase the CCTV program started by the FNM. We will increase the use of mobile police vans and mobile forensic labs. We will give the police the freedom to do the job without political interference and support the Police Staff Association. We will pass effective laws and make the necessary changes to our legal system,” said Minnis.

Southern Shores Candidate, Frankie Campbell reminded the enthusiastic crowd that it was the FNM that developed Carmichael into “City 2000” and built three schools, one Post Office, one Police Station, a Library and a Clinic. Campbell pledged his commitment to continue to build on that infrastructure and to work intimately with the residents to address and bring resolution to the challenges and issues facing the community.

Don Saunders, reflecting on the ideals of FNM Founding Fathers told the crowd that it is the true sense of democracy that continues to strengthen the movement of the FNM. Pleased to represent Tall Pines, an area of Carmichael Road where he grew up, Don said he is committed to national service and nation building and dedicated to bring resolution and change to the people of Tall Pines. Saunders embraced the FNM’s crime fighting vision and further committed to work with businesses in the community to promote economic growth and development.
