The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding the PLP’s failed motion of no confidence:

“To no one's surprise the woeful PLP’s ill-advised, ill-conceived, partisan political no confidence stunt, led by the old and tired Brave Davis, fell flat on its face - a complete failure. What it did do was waste valuable time and drew attention away from pressing issues like the recovery efforts being implemented in the wake of Hurricane Dorian. Once again, the incompetent Brave Davis decided to put his raw political ambitions ahead of the people as he tried to ignore an overwhelming majority of Bahamians who cast his party from office in historic fashion last election.

“Where is Davis' and his woeful PLP's commitment to helping with disaster recovery, energy improvements, job growth and education? If they put as much time and attention in working with the Minnis Administration on those critical issues, the people may not hold them in such low esteem. But, based on past actions and current behavior, it seems no one offers much hope for the rudderless PLP these days.

“On the other hand, our Prime Minister, Dr. Hubert Minnis, won't be distracted by the petty partisan PLP political games. He continues to coordinate the largest disaster recovery effort in our nation’s history and is doing so with the kind of foresight and resolve we need from our leaders. The FNM Government is sparing no time or effort to improve conditions while offering tax relief to mitigate the inevitable shared cost of the recovery.

“While the woeful PLP continues to waste the public's time with their blatantly partisan political charades - bizarrely thinking they are scoring political points for the next election, the FNM Government will continue following the lead of our Prime Minister and work to address the critical issues facing our communities and country. That means implementing recovery efforts while still staying focused on comprehensive plans and negotiating deals that will create jobs and opportunity for all Bahamians - not just the chosen few - as we continue to build a solid foundation for sustained economic growth. Rest assured - regardless of the antics from Davis and his woeful PLP, Prime Minister Minnis will continue moving The Bahamas forward because, he knows, Bahamians deserve nothing less from their elected leaders.”
