The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding the PLP’s response to that party’s implication in the Peter Nygard sex trafficking class action lawsuit:

“Has the PLP no shame? Have they no decency? Where is the sympathy and empathy for the alleged victims of the Nygard sex trafficking ring? The wilful callousness the PLP demonstrated toward the women who have come forward was on display again. Their defensive release all but ignores the innocent victims who’ve made claims against the PLP’s top donor, a man accused of the most perverted acts. When will the PLP learn that this tragedy impacted so many lives and their knee-jerk reaction to deflecting any and all responsibility shows that Brave Davis and his party continue to put their ambitions first regardless of who has been hurt?

“Simply put the PLP’s top donor – Peter Nygard – is accused of being the Jeffery Epstein of The Bahamas. This is who the PLP associated with and still stands with, casting aside the brave women who have come forward to seek justice. This is how this abomination continued for so long. Protecting Nygard’s alleged sex trafficking ring years ago was despicable. For the young ladies who say they were targeted and trapped in this vicious ring, their lives will never be the same. To outright deny it and try to spin it into some political issue only shows the PLP lacks the moral courage and leadership to lead our country and stand up for our citizens. The PLP instead stands with an accused foreigner.

“Like Jeffery Epstein, Peter Nygard is accused of using his bank account to buy PLP ‘friends’ in high places who ended up aiding and abetting his disgusting pursuits. Any objective reading of the horrifying details revealed in the class action lawsuit leads to so many unanswered questions. And instead of dodging and deflecting, Brave Davis should step forward as PLP Leader and answer these questions on behalf of his accused party to help these women, who say they were violated, so they could get closure.

“The PLP’s angry, defensive release on the sex trafficking ring lawsuit doesn’t give the Bahamian people any confidence that the PLP under Davis will come forward with the facts and start putting the needs of the people they serve ahead of Peter Nygard – their top donor accused of harming children!”
