Freeport, Bahamas - The Democratic National Alliance held a press conference today in Grand Bahama to ratify three candidates: Elkanah Pinder, Leslie Lightbourne and Nevar Smith. The following are remarks made by new DNA candidate Elkanah Pinder for East Grand Bahama:

We give our risen Saviour Jesus all the glory, thanks, and praise for this day. This is a momentous day. The time for work is now. The time for growth is now. The time for new possibilities, new investors that will guide my people to the front line in there Bahama Land is now. The time for many of your dreams to come true is now. East Grand Bahama we still have unpaved roads,we still have areas that don't have city water,  we still have low tide problems coming in and out Sweeting Cay and north Water Cay, we still have high unemployment, and the odor problem off Midshipman. This should have been dealt with from day one, and under my watch it will be solved. My name is ELKANAH PINDER and I will be your DNA MP for East Grand Bahama.

Bio of Elkanah George Pinder East Grand Bahama

Elkanah George Pinder was born on December 26th, 1955 in the settlement of Pinders Point on the Island of Grand Bahama; the first born to his Parents Raymond Whitfield Pinder and Verlene Louis Pinder.

A product of the Catholic School system, Elkanah received his primary education at the St. Vincent De Paul Primary school before completing his secondary education at the Grand Bahama Catholic High School. It was there, that his passion for community building was born. During this time at the institution Elkanah was actively involved in several service organizations including the Key Club where he served as president for two terms. That role sparked in him the desire to serve at all levels, and instilled in him the invaluable qualities of leadership, and hard work.

Upon completion of his secondary education Pinder enrolled as a student at the Apex School of Plumbing and began working in the family business Pinder’s Plumbing Company Ltd. Elkanah later moved on to the bustling world of insurance at Star General Insurance in the Claims department; then moving to Administration where he worked until his retirement in 2016. Since then, he has resumed his role as a loving father to his three Children and a nurturing and doting grandfather to his five grandchildren but has not set aside his role as a community leader and advocate. Pinder remains active member of the New Hope Methodist Church and contributing member of a number of civil organizations on the island, all of which helped shape his desire for country and community building.

Having been around Bahamian politics from the age of thirteen and being positively influenced by some our greatest Bahamian heroes, Pinder made the decision in 2011 to work with the Democratic National Alliance in Grand Bahama to be an example of Mahatma Ghandi’s famous quote by being the change he wants to see.

Over the course of his life, Pinder has developed and displayed an immense love for God and Country and is witness to what our Beautiful Bahama-land was and still has the potential to be.
