Nassau, Bahamas - The following is a press statement by Bradley B. Roberts National Chairman Progressive Liberal Party:

Concerning comments in the media attributed to Brent Symonette about the recent travel advisory, I make the following observations.

Brent  Symonette  seems only to find his  voice  when  it is to  attack  the  best  interests  of the  Bahamas and on this issue he should keep his advice to himself.

He is uniquely disqualified in this matter. He has  never  been  a young  black male nor  the  parent  of  one and  the  anxieties  that  youngsters  and  their parents  face in the  face  of  official  racial  prejudice.

He has lived a privileged life. He attended St Andrew's School when it was a segregated institution. He ought to have stayed out of this one.

Both the  official  Opposition  and  the  Government  are  united that  this  was  the  right  course of action. Bahamians were simply advised to be careful and there is no harm in that advice.

By sticking his nose in this matter, Mr. Symonette only amplifies the deepening divide within the FNM and the personal contempt he has for the duly elected leader of his party and his various spokesmen.

If the FNM is confused and divided in opposition on relative routine policy matters, how in the devil do they expect Bahamians to trust them to govern this country, given the myriad of complex and challenging issues facing The Bahamas.

Bahamians should not be surprised by his comments because this is the same man who naively told the world that the relatively close proximity of his house to that of the US Ambassador somehow translated into better diplomatic relations between the two countries.

BRENT SYMONETTE SHOULD JUST SHUT THE HELL UP!
