I  read with mixed feelings of amusement and disappointment Shane Gibson’s commentary about myself, and of the Democratic National Alliance. For someone claiming to be paying no attention to what the DNA is, or is not doing, Mr. Gibson has clearly formed some very specific opinions about this political organization, its membership and its leadership. That said, I can only surmise that Gibson’s unprovoked attack was born out of fear and the realization that this administration’s time in office is coming to an end. Despite his best efforts, Mr. Gibson’s comments only prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that my initial assessment was in fact correct: THE POTENTIAL ALLIANCE OF OPPOSITION FORCES IN THIS COUNTRY WOULD BE THE WORST NIGHTMARE OF THE GOVERNING PLP.

Even more than his assessment of me as a wannabe politician however, I was personally offended by the Minister’s insistence that he and this government are focused on bringing relief to Bahamians. While I do agree with the Minister that thousands of Bahamians are in need of assistance, this PLP administration has done nothing to address the myriad of problems facing the country. They have failed to keep us safe, they failed to improve labor relations and conditions – a responsibility which falls squarely on his own shoulders – and they have failed to improve the quality of life for Bahamians. For Gibson to assert that this is, and has been the PLP’s focus, is not just a blatant untruth, but is a slap in the face to the scores of Bahamian families who continue to suffer as a result of deteriorating conditions. For the countless Bahamian families who have lost their homes to foreclosure and the scores of young men and women struggling to find employment, Gibson’s comments wreak of hypocrisy and pure political rhetoric; and so I say to the good minister, if this is what you call focus, then YOU HAVE FAILED!

Rather than pretending not to know what the Democratic National Alliance is doing, I challenge Mr. Gibson to try harder to improve the quality of life for Bahamians because at this rate, HE IS FAILING. I challenge him to stop playing politics and GET TO WORK!

The DNA as we have over the past few years continue to agitate on behalf of the Bahamian people will continue to present plans that address the needs of a developing nation and most important we will continue to work toward OUSTING THIS CORRUPT, LACKLUSTER AND VISIONLESS GOVERNMENT FROM OFFICE!
