“Wind River Tobacco executives accompanied by key US materials vendors meet with the Government to discuss the set up of their new manufacturing enterprise in Freeport.”

In keeping with our commitment to bring about economic revitalization, the Office of the Prime Minister Grand Bahama is pleased to welcome Wind River Tobacco Company to Grand Bahama Island.

The executives at Wind River Tobacco Company Limited are delighted to be able to announce that Grand Bahama Island will become our new international base for all overseas manufacturing activities. We were principally attracted to Grand Bahama Island by the unique free zone concept in place here in Freeport with its inherent trade and tax advantages and economic trading routes. Add this to a youthful educated workforce, stable economic and political environment it became an easy decision for our company where to locate.

Our newly renovated facilities in Freeport will house the first phase of our enterprise where we will process, and pack tobacco based consumer products solely for export across the globe. This first phase will require 25 – 30 new employees for which the recruitment campaign has already began. The second phase, which involves substantial capital investment from our part, is planned for the end of the first quarter of 2018. We will be acquiring additional facilities to house this manufacturing operation and an additional 10 – 20 new highly skilled local jobs will be added.

These are challenging and exciting times for us as we expand our business into your community, Grand Bahama Island, and we are confident this will be the first of many successful ventures with the support and continued cooperation of all involved.

The Office of the Prime Minister is pleased to welcome this new manufacturing business which is evident that Grand Bahama is open and ready to do business.

Additionally, with our upcoming Investment Unit, companies like Wind River Tobacco will find the ease of doing business in Grand Bahama significantly increased.

Our goal is to make Grand Bahama the capital of the Bahamas for industries and technology.

On behalf of the Government of the Bahamas, I welcome Wind River Tobacco Company to Grand Bahama Island. I encourage you to employ the best standards and practices in your business. Seek out smaller businesses and entrepreneurs to provide you with ancillary services and support. Purchase a second home. Let’s continue to work together to bring economic revitalization to Grand Bahama.
