Nassau, The Bahamas – His Excellency Alfredo Garcia Castelblanco, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to The Bahamas paid a Courtesy Call on the Hon. Brent Symonette, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.

Amongst talks were the lobby for support of The Bahamas for the two Chilean candidatures for elections to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), May 2011) and the Organisation of American States’ Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (ACHR, June 2011).

The Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Republic of Chile established diplomatic relations on December 4, 1990. Since then, relations have emanated from bilateral exchanges in areas of trade negotiations, language training progammes, and courses offered by the Diplomacy Academy of Chile.
