The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Public Service, the Hon. Frederick A. Mitchell, MP, in a virtual meeting on 18 November 2021, received the Copie d’Usage of Her Excellency Beate Stirø, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Norway to The Bahamas.  Also in attendance were Director-General Sharon Brennen-Haylock and Foreign Service Officer Abria Hield.

Following the brief presentation ceremony, Minister Mitchell and Ambassador-Designate Stirø discussed a broad range of topics including the celebration of thirty (30) years of diplomatic relations; the recently held United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), where the Prime Ministers of The Bahamas and Norway were in attendance; and their candidacies for upcoming elections in international organisations, particularly those of The Bahamas and Norway to the International Maritime Organization (IMO). During the discussion, Minister Mitchell expressed the gratitude of The Bahamas to Norway for their involvement in the fight against Climate Change and their leadership in the conservation of oceans.

Ambassador Stirø will present her Letters of Credence to the Governor-General at a later date.

Both sides noted in conclusion the strong friendship between the two countries.
