NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Bahamas Girl Guides Association (BGGA) held their Centenary Gala Ball 1915-2015, October 23, at Melia Nassau Beach Resort.  The theme of their celebration activities over the past year has been 100 Years of Influencing Lives of young women in The Bahamas.  The Hon. Melanie Griffin, Minister of Social Services and Community Development and former Girl Guide, gave remarks.

She is pictured, second left, during presentation to her as the longest-serving (1970-1985) former Chief Commissioner of the Bahamas Girl Guides Association Clarice Granger, second right.  Mrs. Granger has continued to be very active in Girl Guides up to the present, as Council Member, head of the Shop Committee, chair of the Fund-Raising Committee for the new BGGA building, and manager of ‘Cookie Week,’ Girl Guide cookie distribution.

Also awarded was Marjorie Davis, as the eldest former Chief Commissioner, and others who were recognized for their contributions over the many years.  Also shown are Bahamas Girl Guides Association President Anita Bernard, left, and Chief Commissioner, Nicolette Archer, right.  (BIS Photo/Patrick Hanna)
