On behalf of the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, I extend our condolences to the immediate family, extended relatives and friends of the late Natasha Newbold.

It is with sincere sadness to have learned of the passing of Natasha Newbold, one of out great pioneering women in sports and perhaps the greatest female power lifter known to The Bahamas.

Natasha was a fierce athlete, and fearless when it came to her competitors in sport. Many of her national records still stand today and her achievements will be immortalized in the annuals of our sports history.

On this occasion, the Ministry shares the loss felt by the Bahamas Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation on the passing of its outstanding athlete and the contribution she has made toward the promotion of the Bahamas through the sport of weightlifting.

May she rest in peace.

Hon. Dr. Daniel Johnson, MP

Funeral set for Sunday, April 24th
