Nassau, Bahamas - The Department of Immigration has released images of the exterior and 
interior of the newly constructed dormitories at the Carmichael Road 
Detention Center. Additionally, images were released of the interior of 
the half-way house for female refugees and their minor children while 
they await processing and repatriation. 
	
	
	
	
	
	It is the policy of the Bahamas 
government that mothers should not be separated from their minor 
children during the processing and detention periods. These photos were 
displayed as part of the presentation delivered at a hearing by the 
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights into complaints filed about 
the treatment of refugees in The Bahamas. 
	
	
	
	
	
	The presentation was delivered
 by the State Minister for Legal Affairs, the Hon. Damian Gomez in the 
Ruben Dario Room at the headquarters of the Organization of American
