The National Independence Committee announced today that The Bahamas will observe 47 years of Independence under the theme “Pressing Onward: A Time of Hope, Triumph, and Transformation.”

Members of the public including government offices and private institutions are encouraged to wear  national colors beginning Friday, 3rd July, 2020 and every day thereafter, leading up to Independence Day on Friday, 10th July, 2020.

The public is also advised that due to the Covid-19 protocols and measures still in effect, there will be no celebratory events that involve large gatherings.  However, the Committee is making preparations for a 4-hour, made-for-television, virtual Independence program that will air live from the studios of ZNS in New Providence and the Northern Bahamas on Thursday, 9th July beginning at 8:00p.m.

The public is encouraged to tune in to the broadcast.
