NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Cabinet Office announced today that Mr. Leroy Stephen "Duke" Hanna, former Senator, will now Lie-in-State at the Senate, Parliament Square, Bay Street on Thursday, 30 August, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. instead of Bethel Brothers Morticians, Nassau Street.
Viewing for the general public will begin at 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m.
The State -Recognised Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, 31 August, 2012 at Bethel Baptist Church, Meeting Street.
Mr. Hanna was a former Senator, founding
president of the National Congress of Trade Unions Bahamas (NCTUB), served for
more than 29 years as president of the Bahamas Musicians & Entertainers
Union (BMEU), invested into the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire
(Civil Division)
M.B.E
during the Queen’s New Year Honours at the Government House in 2004, and a
noted Bahamian entertainer.
