Oct. 11 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Immigration wishes to advise the general public that the U.S. Customs
and Border Protection Pre-Clearance Station at Grand Bahama
International Airport has suspended operations in the aftermath of
Hurricane Matthew. This means that passengers flying directly from
Freeport to the United States will undergo immigration and customs
clearance at the first airport in the United States.
Bahamian
citizens arriving in the United States on post-cleared flights are
inadmissible for entry without a valid visa. Bahamian citizens traveling
to the United States from Freeport have two options: 1) they can obtain
a valid visa; or 2) they can transit Nassau and utilize pre-clearance
here. The US Embassy has aldo advised airlines in Freeport of the
requirement.
