Nassau, The Bahamas – The Ministry of Labour and The Department of Labour will host another of its already successful job fairs on Saturday, 24th February, 2018.

The Department of Labour has already hosted three (3) very successful “Labour on the Blocks” events which included Bain & Grants Town, a Construction Industry specific job fair at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium and an extremely well attended event in Grand Bahama at the Columbus Park this past Saturday.

The next event is scheduled for the Southern district of New Providence this coming Saturday, 24th February from 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Golden Gates Park, opposite Golden Gates Assembly Church, Carmichael Road.  As usual, the Minister of Labour along with Senior Executives from the Ministry of Labour and the Department of Labour will be in attendance to meet and assist jobseekers.

The aim is to utilize community parks to register jobseekers in the Department of Labour’s data base, and this coming weekend the constituents of Golden Gates, Carmichael, Southern Shores, Garden Hills, Tall Pines and Golden Isles are encouraged to attend.  There have been many persons hired on the spot at the past “Labour on the Blocks” events. This speaks to the effectiveness of this new initiative, which is providing hope and opportunity.

The Public Employment Services (P.E.S.) Unit of the Department of Labour continues to invite businesses to participate in the “Labour on the Blocks” initiatives. Economic growth and job creation remain one of the leading priorities of the Government, and the “Labour on the Blocks” events are successfully answering the needs of jobseekers as well as employers in effectively connecting eligible candidates with the right jobs.
The Department of Labour encourages all jobseekers in The Bahamas or abroad, and employers with vacancies to register in the Department’s recruitment database: www.jobseekers.bahamas.gov.bs

Persons attending the “Labour on the Blocks” Job Fairs are asked to bring along their NIB Card, and a valid Government-issued ID such as a passport or voters card.  Registering in the database in advance is also highly recommended.
