NASSAU, The Bahamas – Multitudes of persons turned up at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs Gymnasium on Saturday, January 20, 2018 for the second installment of the Ministry of Labour’s Public Employment Services Initiative, “Labour on the Blocks.”

Facilitated by the Department of Labour, the purpose of this weekend’s initiative was to register job seekers interested in employment in the construction field.

Between the hours of 12 noon to 4 pm, job seekers turned up with relevant requested information, which was entered into the Department of Labour’s database.

Present were Senator the Hon. Dion Foulkes, Minister of Labour; Robert Farquharson, Director of Labour; and other officials from the ministry.

Also there were businesses and institutions such as the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI), which registered job seekers onsite for potential employment and skills training.

The Ministry of Labour launched its Public Employment Services (PES) initiative, “Labour on the Blocks” on January 13, 2018 in Bain and Grants Town, and will host monthly “Labour on the Blocks” events in communities in New Providence.  The initiative will be extended to Grand Bahama and to the Family Islands, including: Abaco, Eleuthera, Andros and Exuma.
